Here is an opportunity for those who have NOT yet tried a straight razor to actually receive one FREE and have it actually be SHAVE-READY! I'm am offering up a restored straight razors as a PIF for TSD members. The razor is one currently in need of some TLC—cleaning and polishing,a NEW set of scales and honing. It is made in England by the Kropp Manufacturing Company. Some background info: "The Kropp Manufacturing Company was a London firm that made razors for the UK and world market. Some of their razors were made and ground in Sheffield, some in Sheffield and ground in Hamburg. They majored in good quality, everyday razors and succeeded admirably. Kropp also supplied the retail trade and offered a variety of options, mostly engraved blades with the retailer's name on them." HERE is the razor in it's current state, broken scale & all. A Sheffield-made, ground in Hamburg' 5/8" wide blade, top & bottom jimps (for surer grip), with a 'safe' round point—perfect for first timers to straight shaving! Once completed, the winner will receive a cleaned, polished and carefully-honed shave-ready razor! HERE is the PIF razor nearly ready to go. Wenge wood scales with a CA finish; bone wedge, nickel rods and brass washers. Still need honing... All I ask is the following stipulations if you are interested in this soon-to-be fine Kropp razor. Not uncommon for spouses to have some apprehension about their guys dragging a surgically-sharp blade across their faces every morning! Just reassure her that 911 is on speed dial and keep plenty of gauze on hand.

Awesome PIF, but not in. I haven't started yet, but I picked up my first straight from @Darkbulb's grab box last month. I sent it to a member of another forum for a free cleanup and hone, and he accidentally broke a scale. So he decided to send it back to me along with another freshly honed and cleaned razor that he decided to PIF me. It should be here any day now. If I decide to stick with the straights, I may be looking to get some scales replaced soon.
I'm in! I have a straight that is in questionable condition (honed, purportedly, but not sure whether it was a good job or not). I just haven't had the guts to give it a try, so I am as-yet uninitiated. But knowing this would be coming from @HolyRollah would give me the confidence to finally take the plunge!
