Prep: hot shower and Cornhusker's Lotion
    Lather: Leftover frankensoap

    Razor: Gillette New SC
Blade: Feather (4) and Gillette 7 O'Clock Sharp Edge (1)
    Post: Old Spice

I forgot to change my blade yesterday and well, I could tell immediately that this Feather blade was done. So one uncomfortable pass completed and removed the Feather and replaced it with a Gillette 7 O'Clock Sharp Edge. Finished with 2 passes with that razor. Results were fine.

  8. Yesterday I wrote:

Today I used the New Long Comb again with much better results. I believe the problem was that I was "breaking the rules" with the slim by going XTG on the first pass in some areas. While I could get away with this on the slim, I was not able to do so with the Long Comb. Today I went back to doing it "the right way" and was rewarded with a BBS, no weepers and very little irritation. The only irritation I have today is in the same spots as yesterday, which I believe is due to the fact that I mangled my face yesterday and it is still recovering. If I had not had irritation yesterday, I believe I would not have any today.

BTW - It surprises me the number of people that have purchased the L'Occitane Plisson brush but have not tried their soap. It is well worth it.

Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Invigorating Face Wash, TSD Jasmine Sambac preshave balm
    Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger
Soap: Ginger's Garden Grass Stain Menthol Snow
    Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC
    Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (2)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, XTG (3, 4, 5)
Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma alum, Dickinson's WH, Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS splash
Cologne: Maison Francis Kurkdjian's Oud Velvet Mood (sample)

At some point while I slept last night, I got a small spider bite (apologies to those who hate spiders). Not to worry, friends! The Bic sliced that spider bite right off. :angry019: Other than that little snag and my continued difficulties in getting the Aqua Velva to pour out a reasonable - rather than excessive - amount, the shave went off without a hitch, as I had copious lather and the blade worked well for nearly BBS results.
  13. Well you got half of a song going ...

    Sorry about the spider bite!

  18. Good morning, gentlemens.

Today started my foray into tallow based soap. I'm going to do an evaluation on Queen Charlotte tallow soap samples. Same format for each- two weeks with one week DE and one week SR. I'm going grate up and then mash them into a bowl, these soaps are very soft so they don't need to be melted. I'll also mix up face- and bowl lathering.

    First up: "Queen Charlotte"
The smell is very woody to me, it smells a lot like red oak and cedar with some fougère and a bit of rose. It reminds me of working with my pop in his shop, woodworking. It loads quickly and lather is very slick, peaky, cushiony, and the lather lasts. I decided to test how quickly it would dry out because it's very cold and dry here this winter and lather will dry out by the time i get from one side of my face to another and it did not disappoint. Two pass, xtg and atg, verrry nice.

    Hump Day Simple Shave.

  19. March Focus - Vintage and Carbon
    March 4, 2015 - Week 1 Day 4
Prep - Hot shower and towel
    Brush - Omega Pro 48
    Soap - Arko
Razor - Gillete New Long Comb
    Blade - [IMG](4)
Post - RazoRock Alum and The Veg

Day 4 will be the last for this blade. Still not a horrible shave, felt good but the results were not as good. Took 3 1/2 passes to get to DFS on my face and CCS on my neck. The 1/2 pass was a Gillette slide on my neck to work it down. No serious tugging or other issues, it just isn't cutting like it did the first three days. Gave me a great run, though so a good start to March.
