I, too, have a blade bank. I also use the case that some blades, such as Wilkinson and ASR, are packaged in. They have a slot for used blades.
I use a shaving "bank" as in the pictures in post #2, only mine has no graphics on it. Description at the site where I bought it says it will hold up to 400 DE blades; I bought four of them since they were only a dollar each. I forget where I bought them. As a former motorcycle rider—I had a Triumph, some Hondas and a couple Vespa scooters—I am interested in know what the MC is in your avatar. It looks vintage European in a way.
"EverReady...For the Razor You Treasure" My current old DE blade holder. Doesn't get much use anymore.
LOL that's absolutely a nightmare. Whenever I'm sick with a sore throat I describe it as feeling like I've been gargling with razor blades.
I repurposed a clear plastic spice container(parsley flakes). It's around 2x3 inches in diameter and 6 inches high. The screw on lid has a convenient flip open/close top that was used for pouring out the flakes, the used blades slide right in that opening, lid snaps shut, no modification needed. It's not pretty, but it's cheap, solid, secure, sanitary, takes up VERY little space, works well, gives trash a second use and fits perfectly in my bottom vanity drawer. The container has been in(razor blade storage) mode for at least 3 years now and I have only used up maybe a 1/2 of space. When the time comes I'll just glue up the lid, punch a few holes in the body and put it in the trash. However at the rate it's filling up I anticipate I'll get many, many years of use out of it before it needs to be disposed of and replaced. While my setup(bottom vanity drawer) may not be the best for someone with a toddler or small child it works great for me.
Picked up this pretty little thing in the middle to store used blades. Eventually they'll be moved for disposal, when it fills, in 10 years lol.
My house is an older home, built in the 1960's. Inside the medicine cabinet is a slot for used razor blades. They drop to the floor between two studs. It will take 500 years to fill that empty space with used razor blades.
