Saturday: This is going to be my travel kit. I've been shaving with this set up for the past week. The razor actually gives a DFS with Astra or Voskhod blades. I plan on breaking in the brush for 30 days. It seemed it took near that long for my 1305 to come into it's own. I'm really becoming attached to the 1438, even though it doesn't let go of it's later as readily as the 1305. Although the knot is smaller, I'm finding it easily holds enough later for 3+ passes.
The LaToja is also my 1st shave stick (I use Arko in puck form). I really like the lather and smell...it's a keeper!

All in all a great DFS. Just proving you can get a decent shave without breaking the bank:)

    • Razor: Baili Victory Three Piece. (I think this is a brand of Weishi)
      • Blade: Astra
    • Brush: Semogue 1438
    • Soap: LaToja Shave Stick
    • AS: VIBR

    Stirling Sheep soap
    Merkur 37C slant bar
    Feather blade (day 2)
    Ever-Ready C40 boar
    Stirling Naked and Smooth soap
    Two passes
Alum, Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, & unrefined shea butter

I am really enjoying this set up overall. I took the great advice from @clint64 and @Seabs today, and the Stirling soap lathered up great! I soaked the puck and brush in hot water, loaded the brush "like it owed me money," and I was rewarded with an "epic" mountain of slick and protective cream! My shave was great, and I hope for a repeat performance tomorrow.

    Have a blessed Sunday, everyone!

Hey Kevin, you have a lot of great looking straights, but I think the Otto is my favorite. Is it OK that I have favorites in other dens?

Proraso Green AS :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:

Here's another very nice cream with excellent lather and a HELL of a strong menthol effect which I haven't used in quite some time, so I'll be taking it for a spin tomorrow morning. I forget how much I paid for this stuff but I don't think it was too expensive. The Gold Bond moisturizer makes such a great aftershave balm because it's so cooling and soothing. The Proraso Green intensifies and keeps the chill going for a long time. My shave today was terrific, and I'm expecting another one like that in the morning. ;) :D

Currently about 4. I've sold off 3 in the 6 months. Surprisingly there's not that many frame-back takers. I've had number of the faux frame backs.
Here's another Wostenholm FB, newer (& in better shape) than the Civil war model…

March Focus - Vintage and Carbon
    March 7, 2015 - Week 1 Day 7
Prep - Hot shower and towel
    Brush - VDH Boar
    Soap - Arko
Razor - Gillete New Long Comb
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
Post - RazoRock Alum and The Veg

Last day before starting week two of the vintage and carbon focus. Used the New LC with a Voskhod blade just to enjoy the shave. I had used the blade once before in a different razor. Great three pass shave and it was nice to have a Voskhod loaded up again after all of the blades I've tried the past month or so. Finished DFS with little to no irritation and wore the Veg to work. Must have worked because sales were good!

Tomorrow it's back to the carbon steel. Going to my '46 Aristocrat with the Treet Durasharp carbon blade. This blade is teflon coated so I'm hoping for all seven days out of it but we'll see.
