I have spoken with the soap maker. He is relatively new =) it is getting mixed reviews on that shave the man Facebook group. So it's best to try it yourself =) he has interesting scents.
My Aunt passed away in August of last year. And of course my Cousin that is the Executor of her trust is cleaning out the house. My Aunt and Uncle built the house in 1947. (my cousin say's Aunt Edna saved everything from the day that they bought the lot ). Anyway these items belonged to my Uncle Ralph (my pretty Uncle family joke ) They had no children so all of my cousins and I were treated like we were their children. Years ago before I went in the Military. My Uncle Ralph taught me how to shave with a straight razor, but I have not used one for almost 50 years. Here is a picture of the items.
Ive built a relationship with a local antique shop owner and he holds any shaving stuff he gets and gives me first crack at it. Well today he just got this fat boy in the case with the Gillette blade holder. I'm so pumped. I already have a fat boy but not in the case. Plus i got it all for 15$.
That is nice that you will be able to use the items that have been in your family. I wish I had known better at the time to keep some of my dad's shaving gear.
Also I believe one of the Razors belonged to my Mother's Father. My aunt Edna was my mothers older sister. Years ago my Grandmother gave me my Grandfather "Old Spice" Shaving Mug and Brush set. I do not know what ever happened to them. Lost in a move somewhere. Yes very much so what you just said is true. I have very few items that were my Father's thanks to the "Wicked Witch of the North! (aka his wife)
The last of my recent brush orders arrived. TGN Butterscotch handle with Finest Two Band Badger 24/48mm. Before/after cleaning and test lather:
Received a small Holy Grail razor for me today.....The Lereshe #51 It's in great condition and came with the original case and two original, Lereshe-branded blade holders. This is a razor that is rumored to be aggressive and - maybe more importantly one of the best DE razors ever made. We shall see if it lives up to that....
I think it's just the angle that makes it look that big. I'll post some more shots of it when I get to doing a more thorough 'review' of it...in...a few weeks...or months......
Artisan week! Earlier in the week my Maggards Limes & Bergamot tallow and Orange Menthol tallow arrived. Yesterday, Catie's Bubbles Fouet L'Orange & Le Piment de la Vie showed up. Today, Soap Commander Wisdom & Inspiration and a sample of Inspiration Aftershave Balm showed up. This afternoon we attended a wine tasting and then purchased a local Artisan product to go with the great day! A bottle of Pür Class Premium potato Vodka.
