For some time now I have been trying to obtain an Amber Old Spice Brush to restore. Well now I have one and I decided to upgrade it by placing in a Custom Two Band Badger in the place of the original unused Mixed Badger knot which was a real shedder.

    Without any further ado ...

My next project is to get a silvertip knot into a cool vintage handle. Need to start hunting around for one.

Thanks for the complements. I am finding out that this was a rarer brush than I thought it was when I bought it.

Some have asked why the longer loft than what I usually use. The reason why I kept this brush with a longer loft was the original was longer lofted and the knot was actually set at the opening. I had to drill down deep to get the replacement in. The look remained more faithful to the intent of the original.

As to performance. Even with a Two Band which has more backbone in my opinion than Silvertips and Best grades, this one is strictly a bowl lathering and paint stroke brush for me.

Normally unless the knot is large (28 mm) I prefer the lofts for Two Bands from 50 - 53 mm (depending on knot size) so that they can perform well both in face lathering and bowl lathering. For softer knots I prefer them to be around 46 - 50 mm depending upon knot size.
