Hi Everyone. I just received a customized sampler pack of new blades consisting of: Kia-SS,
    Personna - Platinum,
    Polsilver-Super Iridium,
    Wilkinson- Sword (German), Crystal,
    Voskhod-Telfon, and
    Astra

I'm currently using an EJ DE89 and this my second sampler pack. Lately I've been leaning more towards Astra although Feather has been very good too.

Any suggestions on the order I should try? Thanks for the advice!

    Honestly it doesn't matter.
Put all the blades in a bag, shake 'em up, close your eyes and pull one out.
Just be sure to log your results of how each one does for you.

Start with the Voskhod, because that's my favorite!

Agreed, it really doesn't matter. If you really need some kind of order try them alphabetically.

Oddly enough, I'm know kind of in the same boat. I am still using the first of two packs that came with my MTO, the dorco blades. They seem to work decent so I've stuck with them not knowing just which sampler blade I want to try next.... Gillette, Astra, Persona, some off brand sample??? I don't know....

I've changed which razor to try more than which blade...

I have several blades (brands of blade) that I like. I will use a Wilkinson Sword Blade in my Favorite Razor before any other blade. Weber 3pc. S/S Polished Head 85mm Classic Handle {This is my Preferred Razor & My Favorite} *

When I try a new blade of any kind I will use my 1967 M-3 Gillette Knack TTO/DE{issued to me in Boot Camp} * The reason I do that is I know what type of or I should say what to expect in the shave results, and if the shave is nasty the blade goes away. If like the blade.........

This is what I'm planning to do when I do open up a different pack. My 34c gives the most consistent shaves so that will be the beginning razor, then move on to the other razors after the initial thoughts.

I've finally started working through my sampler packs. This is what I started with, plus the Dorco packs with the MTO.

From the looks of what everyone else likes, I got a really good starter pack. Even though the Dorco do decent for me, I did find the Gillette were noticeably better as are the Astra. I've yet to try the Personna. I've seen these three names mentioned a lot in SOTD.

Now, I have not seen the Pol-silver SI or the Kai mentioned near as much. I thought they were cheap no name brands, especially the packaging of the Kai, until I did a little research... First off, they run 33-45¢/blade or MORE. Not a cheap blade, relatively. But they have been compared to Feathers for sharpness, quality, etc.

I'm anxious to find a good blade and buy in bulk. Looking like the Astra SP will be that blade for me. Works good and 10¢/blade is nice. Nice that I don't have to buy 50¢ blades to feel good.

I'm still working through the pack of course and am sure I won't be disappointed with the rest of the results.
