Hi everyone; After looking around for a while I decided to register and say Hi. I started wet shaving, using double edged safety razor in January of this year. Everything is going fairly well most of the time. I nick at times but get over it quickly, learn from it and move on. I have tried soaps but have become fairly comfortable using the Taylor of old Bond Street creams. I mostly use Derby blades but switch out with feathers when I need a closer shave. The only problem I run into is on my chin. To the left and right of my chin there is alway, no matter what blade I use, a patch that is clean and clear while there is always a visible shadow of stubble that I just can't shave cleanly on the rest of the chin. It's only noticeable to me and I assume its the shape of my chin, but does anyone have any tips on an even shave on the chin? Thanks Dan
Hi! As for the patch on your chin, if it is clean and clear, no stubble, not much you can do. It's the hair showing just under the surface of the skin. To try and get it won't do a thing except cause irritation. If it really bothers you that much, try some cover-up makeup from your wife (assuming you're married, of course).
hello neighbour welcome to the den. I'm not real sure I understand your issue. are you missing stubble around your chin? try maintaining the cutting angle constant. in relation to the surface of your face. this requires the razor handle to rotate quite a bit to get over the point of your chin.
It's hard to explain, thanks for the welcome. On the first pass of my chin area, there is a spot on each side that is completely shaved, no stubble remains at all. No matter how many passes I do, the rest of the chin is nowhere near as close with visible stubble remaining. The spots are just smaller than a dime or so and smooth as silk. I am still practicing with the correct angles etc. so maybe when I get better it won't be as noticeable to me. Thanks for the tips
Welcome to TSD! I have noticed that I have more visible hair just at the surface of my skin than I used to when using cartridge razors. I just chalk it up to knowing that I have a decreased chance of in grown hairs now. I still get a clean, comfortable shave and seem to be the only one who can notice (I don't go for BBS). If no one else notices, I say let it go and save the skin.
Welcome to the den. I have no specific advise about your question but feel that since you are still pretty new at this you will probably see improvement as you continue to gain experience.
That's so true Troy. Thanks everyone for the welcome and advice, this may be the best site I have found since I started with the DE

Dan, welcome to the Shave Den! This is a great place to hang out and learn about the secrets of getting a great shave. Heels are also a nice accessory when worn tastefully, but, of course, they are optional.
