Sharpness, middle of the line. Longevity, can easily go a week or more. Skin friendly yes but some times I get a tug out of them. Quality is good but the price is too steep for my wallet.
I don't care for these blades at all. I always end up with a rough shave with these.....and based on the price to pay, I won't be using these ever again. These are not friendly to the "new" wet-shaver in any way, shape, or form. And frankly, not suitable for the experienced shaver either....way too many better blade options out there.
decent, but not great I can say one thing, these blades are just decent, but they don't even come close to the Sharps as being effective, forgiving, or durable. I have a very heavy beard, so as far as longevity is concerned, these blades can be disappointing. I'm lucky to be able to squeeze 4 shaves out of a Merkur. Jeff
I am afraid these blades do nothing for me. Overpriced and not particularly good. I always seem to have a rough shave with weepers. Unfortunately these are often supplied with new Merkurs. Not surprisingly of course.......but not the best introduction to Double edge Shaving.
Won't even cut my "light" beard Pity you heavily bearded guys 'n clams that are cutting whiskers with Merkurs. I'm very fair, light blonde beard & I just can't get a decent shave with the Merkurs blades. I usually can get away with 2 passes, both an e/z N-S mow + a little touch up xtg pass on a l'il teenie weenie neck patch & get a lovely BBS out of it. But with the Merkurs I'm doing full 4 passes + the patch work and still no BBS result . just a bad case of razor burn. Thank goodness for Cetaphil moisturizer to take away the Merkur rash. To be fair, maybe I've just been getting "bad" un's but am going to winnow out the remaining merkurs I have and trade'm off to somebody who does get a good shave from them. I realize that YMMV greatly with Blades depending on your Machine & Skintype & other variables, but these are high priced blades that just don't do it for me....Am puzzled about how a company that makes such good "blade holders" makes such mediocre blades
Burn baby burn These blades always bite my skin. After shaving with one of these my skin always feeld very uncomfortable and rough. The spot on the i is when I apply some after shave. It doesn't matter which after shave i take it burns very much . So these blades are just not for me ::ban.
I'll be the voice of dissent here. These blades have been consistently good to my face and are my second favorite blades, after the Israeli Personnas. I have gotten up to ten good shaves out of a single Merkur blade. Some brands of blades are overly harsh on the first shave and good on subsequent shaves, but I find the Merkurs are good from the first shave. Yet more evidence of the YMMV principle, I guess.
Having a late 1960's Solingen steel hunting knife that will sharpen to and hold a razor's edge, literaly, I had high expectation for the Solingen Merkur blades. I was disappointed. They tug from the get go and require lots of work to get anything approaching a good shave. They leave my face rough and sore. I'd rate these at or below the Dorco 300. As for longevity I rate them 0 as I can't take more than 2 shaves. They may give the same bad shave for a long time but I can't bring myself to find out how long they will last. Thes tug on my whiskers no matter what preparation I use or which razor. Cause irritation to me especialy on neck area. Have given them away.
Good german blade. For sure Merkur blades are not the sharpest but they last longer than any blades i tried so far. As for the price they are quite expensive, would be cool if Merkur would sell them in bulk.
