Wednesday March 25, 2015 "Day Off Shave"

Prep: Hot shower, St. Ives Green Tea Scrub for deep face cleaning
Pre Shave: Homemade Preshave oil with Peppermint Essential.
Soap: Van Der Hagen with 8 drops of M-bomb
    Brush: Waterford Crystal Badger
    Razor: Schick Krona
    Blade: Astra SP
Post shave: Gentleman Jon Alum Block, Witch Hazel peppermint infused, Nivea Cooling Post Shave Balm, Proraso Pre/Post, Splash of Barbasol Pacific Rush.

Thoughts: Just received the Schick Krona in the mail yesterday and got to use it this morning! I am very pleased and impressed with the way the Krona performed. It has plenty of weight for my needs in a razor and simply shaved smooth and easy. The Razor gave a lot of vocal feed back while cutting to let you know it was doing its job :). Was glad to break out the Waterford Crystal brush, I hadn't used it in a while just cause I prefer boar brushes more than badger. But was a nice change up for today! I can't complain over the VDH with the M-bomb fallowed by the cooling aftershaves I have and then the Barbasol Splash right before I hit the door to head to town. Amazing shave today and one for the books! Hope yours was just as good, Gob Bless! Shave on and enjoy!

Great to see a Krona in use. You don't see too many of them in SOTD photos. I really like the look of them personally.

I was thinking the same thing, i hadnt seen them but a couple of times on SOTD! I had always wanted to give one a shot so i actually picked up 2 on eBay for $20, one to give to a co worker. Like you said they look great, they feel good in the hand, and performed very well. Maybe we need to make a Krona week shave :p.

The emblem on the brush and the shape and coloration (lighting is hard on this) leads me to be that this is a vintage Rooney.

Was the original hair on the knot boar hair?

    Thursday morning's fun:

Neutrogena Men Facial Wash :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    Large Horsehair Barbershop
    Super Speed/Sharp day 4
    Synergy Frost_byte SS :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Gold Bond Moisturizer :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Alcolado Glacial Menthol Splash :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    Fahrenheit EdT

This will be another frigid shave with an awesome soap which can almost match the menthol power of my Glacials. The Frost_byte has a unique scent with tremendous lather which whips up so easily - all it takes is a few swirls on your brush and your face will be buried. (and frozen stiff!) My Sharp blade is doing a very good job of holding up this week, so it gets to stay in my Super Speed. The Gold Bond is the most wonderful moisturizer I ever had, and it's such a good aftershave balm with its strong cooling and soothing properties. The Alcolado Glacial smells so tropical and freezes like the North Pole. ;) :D

That's great with the blade bank. The fact you have a case that is period correct with the Gillette emblem and wording in good shape ie excellent. Some of the stuff on the bay looks like a rats nest. Here is a link to your case. I think it goes well. http://www.mr-razor.com/Rasierer/The NEW/1930 Regent England.JPG

Thanks for the link. Is it still a Regent even if the handle is different?

    THURSDAY
    Evening Shave for Tomorrow

My first chance to finally shave with the Kropp razor I've been working on this month. The razor honed up quite nicely and took a very keen yet smooth edge off the Escher waterstone.
This is the razor I'll be giving away (See PIF here) in next Tuesday's drawing. I'm happy to report this razor is very smooth shaver—three quick passes with just a bit of touch-up left near BBS. The round point tip and blade width is ideal for beginners. All & all, a very nice razor I'll probably use again before finally cleaning & polishing it up before packing it off to the winner.

I also had a chance to finally use the TSD shave sticks I ordered a few weeks ago. I used 'Iced Jasmine' (I requested JoAnna @Queen of Blades 'ice up'—i.e. menthol—all the sticks) first. I loved the jasmine scent! After applying a generous coating with the shave stick to my wet face (just as one applies a deodorant stick to the body), I lathered up using my Oscar boar brush. Very impressive! Probably the easiest lather I've made to date. Super slick with excellent coating! Brush was still fully loaded and even after 3 passes, I didn't have to 'add' any more soap to create good, dense lather. The chill of the menthol combined with the thick lather and potent scent made for a throughly enjoyable shave! I look forward to trying more of these fine soaps! :happy088: If you haven't tried the TSD soaps, you're missing out on some exceptional products!

    Have a great Thursday, all!

    Merkur Futur razor
    Polsilver Super Iridium blade
    Plisson Access brush
    Tabac shave soap
    Body Shop Arber AS balm
    Tabac Eau Du Cologne
All new stuff for tomorrows shave. A quick test yielded a fantastic thick lather. The Russian grey badger has the perfect amount of back bone and slight scritch making it ideal for face lathering.

how is that body shop AS balm? when I buy the cream its always 50% off another product and I always pick that up, look at it for the 5mins and put it back as I have never used it.
