Fougere Friday Solid shave but I miss my 39c already after only three shaves with the New. Krampert's Frostbite was a pleasant cool this morning..
Saturday's Dove Men Face Wash Proraso Green Shaving Soap Jayaruh WC1 Silver Tip GEM G-bar Treet Super SE CWR, Asma Alum Block Thayers Lemon WH Pinaud Clubman This is the last week of my GEM/ER SE Razor Month, and it's time for the GEM G-bar. The Van Der Hagen Deluxe Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh WC1 Silver Tip Badger Brush. Two passes with my GEM G-bar SE razor and a Treet Super SE blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Pinaud Clubman after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed... This was the second shave with the Treet blade. It was very smooth and comfortable. Who knew that a carbon blade would deliver such a fine shave. I likey.

Saturday's action plan: L'Oreal Men Expert Facial Wash Large Horsehair Barbershop Super Speed/Sharp day 6 Tryphon Permafrost Blue Shaving Stick Gold Bond Moisturizer Alcolado Glacial Menthol Splash Chabrawichi 555 Cologne Here's another very nice stick which unfortunately is no longer available because the manufacturer was forced to leave the business. The Permafrost Blue has a licorice scent with terrific lather, as well as a STRONG menthol sensation and very, very good post-shave care. I wish it was still around because I really enjoy using it, but c'est la vie as we say in French. The Gold Bond does its usual thing by prolonging the iciness and the Penguin makes you feel like you took a freezing cold shower. The Sharp blade weakened quite a bit so tomorrow I'll see if it's still usable, and if it gives me any issues I'll get rid of it.
SOTD: Friday 3/27/15 - Saturday 3/28/15 Razor: NEW Short Comb Blade: Astra SP Brush: Whipped Dog Butterscotch Silvertip Soap: Maggard London Barbershop (not pictured) AS: Pacific Rush Still loving my short comb NEW! Several days in a row of 2-pass DFS shaves! I've NEVER been able to get by with less than 3 passes with touch-ups afterwards. Now it's only 2 passes, with only minor touch-ups. I really think my technique must be "maturing", if you will. After all, my 1-year DE wet shaving anniversary is in April! Don't forget your taxes!
Planned Saturday SOTD Merkur Futur Semogue SOC brush Pacific Shaving Co Caffeinated shave cream Elvado west Indies Bay Rum AS Balm Layrite No.9 aftershave Gonna try the lather hog one more time, hopefully I'll tame the beast this time around.
March Focus - Vintage and Carbon - COMPLETE March 27, 2015 - Week 4 Day 6 Prep - Hot shower and towel Brush - Omega Pro 48 Soap - Saint Charles Shave Sandalwood Razor - Edwin Jagger 89l Blade - (1) Post - Alum & Aqua Velva Ice Blue Decided to load up a Sharp Star Platinum today. The wrapper looks like something third graders might create but the blade was surprisingly sharp, smooth and really produced a great shave. This blade is from Mostochlegmash in Moscow, the company that produces the entire Rapira line including Voskhod. So, another Russian blade that I am happy to recommend. Although, finding them seems impossible. I got a couple of them from www.tryablade.com and have not been able to locate any other source for these blades. I'm extremely curious about them and won't stop digging until I get some answers. On the soap side of the equation, I tried Saint Charles Shave soap for the first time today, the Sandalwood in the wooden bowl. The scent is subtle but very nice. The lather, well, I'm not going to judge until I play with it a bit more. It was slick but dissipated very quickly. As in Williams quickly. I face lathered the first pass and had to add more after half of the pass. I took the time to bowl lather for the second pass and it made only a slight difference. I will be playing with the water etc. for a couple of days to see if I can dial it in. I really want this soap to work as it is made locally and has a good reputation. Would love to help a local out! There is a much knowledge about Sharp Star blades in this picture of the Russian plains as I have been able to find. Maybe they drop off of the exploding meteors that frequent the country?
