Thursday's Shave Prep: very quick hot shower w/ Grandpa's Pine Tar Soap Lather: Kiss My Face Lavender Brush: Omega 13522 Razor: '46-'50 Gillette Heavy Gold Tech Blade: whatever I left in the Tech yesterday (it was a Sputnik) Post: Nivea Sensitive Balm Scent: none Woke up WAY late this morning. Had to shave in less than 10 minutes when I usually give myself a minimum of twice that. VERY quick 2 pass shave for a SAS and out the door. No time for pics or scents or anything else. I'm impressed with the Sputnik blade. Managed to rush through with no nicks or cuts and minimal irritation.
Today I used Barrister and Mann Beaudelaire soap. I got it for Christmas and I have been using one new soap a month. I've been excited for this month to come as it's my first Barrister and Mann soap. Razor - Pils Brush - Pilsson synthetic Lather - Barrister and Mann Beaudelaire Blade - Sputnik Aftershave - Clubman Wasn't too sure I liked the scent of the soap, but afterwards the combination of Clubman and Beaudelaire lingered in a very pleasant way.
THURSDAY Some recent discussion of the R41 compelled me to break out my favorite DE razor after a long hiatus. Super light touch with the razor yielded a darn-near BBS shave after 3 quick passes. The TSD Vanilla Bourbon soap was a real treat to use, both in its performance and terrific scent! All & all, a very high-quality morning shave! Have a blessed Thursday, everyone!

Today, I'm sporting the sandpaper stubble/no shave, but I did slather in Aqua Velva and used Cocoa Butter lotion from the Dollar General store on my face. Then, I used Eternity Aqua cologne.

Thor's Day: Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Deep Clean Gentle Scrub, TSD Jasmine Sambac preshave balm Brush: Beeline Boar Soap: Stirling Bay Rum Razor: RazoRock Bamboozled RAKE OC Blade: Big Ben Super Stainless (purple wrapper) (4) Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG (10, 11, 12) Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma alum, Dickinson's WH, Captain's Choice Cat o' Nine Tails AS splash Cologne: Gigember Estragone by Dr. Vranjes How can a shave be both good and frustrating at the same time? It's difficult, but today's shave managed it. I hadn't used the Beeline Boar in quite a while'; it's developing a 'Semogue splay' that I know some of you tend to like, but is shedding a dozen hairs and more with each use, making me hope @oscar11 is able to send along my new boar before too long. Every time I use a Stirling soap, I can't help but admire those of you who manage to get good/great/amazing lather out of it, as double the loading time and repeated trips to the puck produce a lather that may be slick, but lacks much cushion at all and seems somewhat resistant to rinsing off. The blade was done, and I did actually get a couple weepers from it as a result of the combination of relatively poor lather and a relatively old blade. All that said, I got BBS results, and my face doesn't feel irritated.
Razor: Gillette 195 Fat Boy (f1) 1960 (5) (3) Brush: Whipped Dog 30/45 Silvertip Mug: Old Spice 1985 Cobalt Blue Soap: Pre de Provence Shea Butter soap Blade: Feather (1) Post shave: Thayers Cucumber WH, Nivea Men Post Shave Balm, Florida Water cologne I loaded the WD Silvertip with the Pre de Provence soap. It took me awhile to whip up some lather, as I'm used to using cream. Got some good lather with a neutral soap scent. WTG XTG on my face and neck on 5 the FB was singing a nice song. ATG on my neck on 3. Nice and slick and with my FB on 3 for my neck I can buff a little on the hard to get to spots for a very nice smooth shave. Must be the Shea Butter. Warn water rinse and pat dry. Then some really nice Cucumber WH, it gives a nice fresh feeling. After cleanup some Nivea balm. Followed up with a big splash of Florida Water. It has a cinnamon citrus scent that is rather unique, and I like it. Reminds me of diving down in Key Largo.
Hows the Cool Fix balm? You're the only one Ive seen sporting it in SOTD. I need a menthol Monday balm
Picked it up on the suggestion of my best friend, and I'm glad I did. Yeah, it's technically meant for women, but I couldn't care less. Works great for me, had fewer ingrown hairs so far, and it reduces irritation really quickly. Has a bit of a sting to it, but no more than using alum, and it fades quickly. Not a super cold feeling, but you do get a nice cooling effect. Has a high end salon smell to it, if you know what I mean. My wife goes to an Aveda salon every once in a while, and it reminds me of the scent of some of their products. Not too girly, but not overly manly either. I'm sure the cool would be intensified if you used it over a mentholated shave soap.

I feel no stubble on my face so I deem this shave BBS, but unfortunately I nicked myself a few times during ATG. My first time using Maggard's Barbershop soap and I love it! Left my face feeling nice and smooth! I also thought the Treet blade already started to feel dull during its second use. Normal for this brand? Hope everyone's having a great day!

Well, I may very well have to break my "Arko April" vow. Just found out that Wet Shave Club is sending out a full sized tin of "Smolder" scent shave soap from The Blades Grim. Can you say excited? I feel like a kid on Christmas!!!
Thursday: hot shower w/Lilac Vegetal scented body wash ShaveSecret PSO Maggard MR4 2+ passes Rapira Swedish Supersteel (4) Maggard Lilac soap Semogue 1305 boar Humphrey's Lilac WH Lilac Vegetal AS Lotion Early shave today and a late post. Had a very similar shave a couple weeks ago but used a different razor and a Lilac scented bar soap in the shower instead of my Veg scented body wash. I'm gravitating towards all my floral stuff trying to pretend like it's warm and spring-like and temperatures are above freezing. A great shave today and another step closer to purchasing a large quantity of Rapira SS blades.
Friday's Dove Men Face Wash TOBS Grapefruit Jayaruh WC4 HMB Gillette Fatboy F2 Sputnik Stainless CWR, Asma Alum Block Thayers Lemon WH Pinaud Vegetal The TOBS Grapefruit Shaving Cream face-lathered well with my Jayaruh WC4 HMB Brush. Two passes with my Gillette Fatboy razor and a Sputnik Stainless blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Pinaud Vegetal after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Now I just need to find a decent shave stick tube (preferably one of the vintage metal tubes), without breaking the bank. lol
Fourth day with the Leresche #51. I'd say this was an excellent shave - I think I have fully adjusted to the head and handle now and it resulted in another very clean, smooth shave. The only thing that would make this razor even better is if the handle was just a tad longer - which is obviously a very subjective preference.
