Hi, shaving has become my new hobby. Brought a Merkur 34C at the start of the year as was going to start shaving more than once a week. I have never got on with shaving, always had a sore neck. Merkur 34C is much better than the pro glide I had before, still get sore neck from time to time. Have found the Bluebeard's revenge stuff good. Thinking I might try cold water shave next.
to TSD "AndyR82" You've got good equipment, but you also need to give it some time. Time, technique, practice and patience are key to a great shave. What ever your shave is now it will get better if you stick with it. What is your preshave routine like? Arko is good inexpensive soap and can be had in either stick or puck form. If you have any questions about anything just ask, someone here will be able and willing to help...
A warm welcome to you from North Texas. You might want to take a look at some of the references contained in my signature line below for discussions of the 30 Day systems and more on shaving hardware and software. With that being said ... Welcome to the Den. We know you'll fit right in. So grab yourself a comfy chair, and give our threads a spin! Burma Shave
Welcome to TSD and the wonderful world of Wet Shaving! Now, run, run as fast as you can as the more you read, the more you want! Only been here 3 weeks and already my collection grows! But seriously, lots of useful information here. Had some neck irritation when I first started and reading here I tried different products and techniques and found the correction was razor angle and pressure. Was holding the razor with the handle towards the floor which was way to much blade angle. Now I hold the handle a lot more parallel to the floor and do NOT apply any pressure, let the weight of the razor do the work! That seems to have helped a lot. Have fun here, ask questions and your shaves will be smooth and relaxing in no time!
