1. April 3 (Good Friday)

    Stirling Sheep facial soap
    Merkur 37C slant bar razor
    Feather blade (day 2)
    Kent BK8 silvertip badger brush
    Arko shave soap & glycerin
    Two passes
Alum, Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Nivea Sensitive Post-Shave balm

I had another fine shave this morning with no irritation or nicks. A few drops of glycerin added to the lather makes the Arko perform even better. Have a blessed Easter weekend.

    Grace and Peace!

  2. @Dubs that sounds like a difficult shave. if you can, try watching a few how to videos, research on technique, visit the newbie section. shaving can be enjoyable. learning a new skill takes time.
some patients and some homework, I'm sure you'll get there.
  3. Skipping the morning shave because I know I have a straight coming in the mail today. This will be the first time I've gone out in public without a clean shave since January 2014. Also, I am pondering removing the mustache again because I am now using a CPAP machine and the whiskers seem to keep the mask from sealing up.

  4. David, I like the looks of your brush! I would like to eventually get a synthetic brush or re-knot my Ever-Ready C40 with a TGN synthetic. As a point of reference, how would your rate this brush against others in your rotation? Thanks, and Happy Easter!
  5. That is a beautiful brush and a great set up for your Good Friday shave! I like Mike's Natural Soap tool, but I have only used unscented. I'd like to try one of his scented soaps, and I'm considering the Hungarian Lavender. Which scent is your favorite?
  6. Wowwwwwwwwwwww, what a freezing-cold shave I had with the Glacial Obsidian soap. The lather was so rich and slick with perfect post-shave care. Another thing I find with these Glacials is that they give great blade glide, unlike some other soaps. I ended up absolutely BBS smooth and I can still feel the menthol tingling. :) :happy108:
  7. Troy, best wishes on your new straight! Are you already a straight user, or is this your first one? I look forward to reading about your progress with it. And I hope the CPAP machine allows you to get better rest. :happy088:

    Razor - CJB & '59 Gillette Superspeed
    Blade - [IMG] (6) voskhod-teflon-coated.jpg (6)
Post - Alum & The Veg

If I ever get the neck figured out this will be a great shave! Just seems like the neck is never as smooth as the face, but I know it's just going to take practice and continuing work on technique. One weeper today but nothing else and the blades continue to perform well. Off to face a Friday!

  10. Off work for a few days, don't feel like shaving but slapped on some old Avon Excalibur. Should have guessed long ago from the name but I now realize it's a slightly lighter, woodier version of English Leather, a vintage bottle of which I unpacked and have been wearing recently. Avon, those shameless copycats.

    Gem Stainless blade
    CO Bigelow SC
    Plisson/L'Occitane brush
    Osage Rub/Witch Hazel/Sage mix
    CO Bigelow 1585 cologne

Very nice shave and now time to go pick up 20 chicks. SWMBO wants them and that's that.

  13. 04/03/15
    Prep – MR GLO
    Razor – GEM 1912
    Blade – GEM SS Coated
Brush – Rubberset 400 with Omega Boar
Lather – Strop Shoppe Baker Street
Post - Witch Hazel and Dove AS Balm

@JR Reyes was kind enough to let me test drive some GEM razors. I didn't want to abuse his kindness by keeping the razors to long so today's shave I used the GEM 1912 with GEM SS coated blades. The Strop Shoppe soap whipped up a great slick lather which helped with a fantastic 3 pass shave. Not BBS but pretty close. I do have problems with the GEM razors above my lip so I cheated and used a Schick Injector in that area. I will add that I like the SS coated blades much better than the carbon blades.
  14. Today I managed to kick the Menthol Monkey on my back. Instead of menthol, I went with PS mixed with TOBS Rose. This is an excellent combo in terms of both scent and smoothness.

    Provence Sante W/ TOBS Rose
    Rapira Stainless blade
    Slim Adjustable
  15. Phil did a wonderful job on the brush! I have Barber Shop and Hungarian Lavender, I like them both equally.

  19. Friday's Shave

Prep: Hot shower w/ Grandpa's Pine Tar
    Lather: Arko
    Brush: Omega 13522
Razor: '46-'50 Gillette Heavy Gold Tech
    Blade: Sputnik
    Post: Nivea Sensitive Balm
    Scent: Tommy Bahama Very Cool

Full 3 pass shave today. The Sputnik blade in the Tech did well, although I still have ATG issues. I might need to try extra prep on days I go ATG. Or maybe I was still rushed and don't have my ATG technique dialed in yet.
