Mastro Livi Grifetto, 6/8 Full Hollow, Round Point

Ladies and gentlemen, Mastro Livi Grifetto! The stainless steel used for making this lovely Grifetto is just amazing! Smooth and velvety, with the right amount of aggressiveness, it is a superb shaver. Not to mention the touch of olive wood scales, a typical Italian wood - as well as Umbrian, of course - a magnificent tree not only providing the very best oil, but also a beautiful wood. This shave was also the occasion to test the Denim White Aftershave I bought yesterday, not the very best around, however worth the price I paid for it, and the smell is pleasing and fresh.

Very good 3 pass shave this morning. Not as smooth as yesterday's shave with the 1912. This razor just seems a bit more aggressive or harsh. Overall pretty pleased with the shave.

Best thing I ever did was shave my moustache off (after having it most my adult life). Other than looking at a stranger in the mirror for awhile:happy102:

Ive got the Bay Rum and the Hungarian Lavender and like them both. The Lavender is quite pungent and heavily scented which I like a lot.

Believe me, it wasn't so easy for me to choose something without menthol. Don't worry - tomorrow it's back to the freezy fun! ;)

    today's shave
hot water wash with dove+ care
    Kent silvertex infinity
    Proraso white
    Merkur 34chd
    Ladas(3)
    witch hazel and tea treeoil
    ICED Florida water
today's shave was ok. after a day at Clearwater beach, I'm a little sun weary(burned). so today, mild with a side of cool was in order. the silvertex made nice lather of the white. the heavy duty removed the stubble in its normal mild but efficient manner. I added an after wash of witch hazel and tea tree oil. finished with iced Florida water.
no treasure found after 7 hours of beach hunting. just coins and sun glasses.
hope y'all did as well(shaving), but do better finding treasure.

SoTD for Thursday, April 2, or, have I mentioned how much I like Probak?

    Pre- BBC oil
Soap- Crabtree and Evelyn, Moroccan myrrh
    Brush- Simpson colonel x2l
    Razor- Probak
    Blade- Gillette Spoiler
    Rinse- Osage
    Aftershave- Command
    Balm- Kiehl's
    Cologne- Quorum

I have decided to give some of my favorite DEs some exercise this week. So Probak, being in my top of the top, is up early. I love these razors. They are very similar to a Gillette in terms of geometry, but I get a overall better shave out of the Probak. This day I paired it up with a vintage Spoiler blade. Fantastic combo, fantastic 2.5 pass BBS.
I am also trying to reassess my Simpson brush. I will admit that when I first got this guy,I was disappointed. For the price, it honestly did not seem that special. But after a few uses, I am growing to really love this brush. I initially thought it was small, but now I like how it feels, and it's responsive action. It is like a sports car. Not a modern supercar, but a little vintage sports car. Like a Carman Ghia. Or maybe I am over thinking the whole thing.
And finally, the soap. I do not like it. The first couple times I used this stuff, I got a very weak and weedy lather. But I usually start with less water and add as needed. So I thought maybe more fluid would be the key. This time I soaked the puck for about five minutes, and used more water. I started in, and instantly got an explosion of lather. It literally welled up out of the mug. I thought I was in business. So I proceeded with my usual routine. When I switched over to my lather bowl, I realized that I did not have lather. I had a mountain of suds. No joke. It was a mountain of loose, Mr Bubble style suds. I tried to mix it up, tamp it down, anything to make it usable. It eventually looked almost like lather. But it didn't act like it. Sometimes it would go on correctly, and then when I looked back in the mirror, I would see that it had all slid off. Eventually I got a face full and shaved. I was only going for simple hair removal at this point, so I ended up with a serviceable DFS. I have to believe that I am just not finding the equation to unlock this soap. I would think that a terrible soap would not remain in production as a staple of the industry... but, weirder things have happened since the rise of the bean counter as prime mover in business.
