Beautiful razor! If I was going to try a straight it would need to be a round point. Very nice, and love the scales.:eatdrink047:

Yup. I plan on going to setting 3 next shave. I already have and love the Nivea sensitive post shave balm. Excellent stuff. When ever I have a less than desirable shave, its what I use.

I was going to skip today's shave to let my face heal one more day, but I couldn't resist. Today's shave was....

    VDH luxury soap
    Black handle SS
    Gillette SB(2)
    Nivea post shave

Still got a little raw on the neck but end result was a lot better than yesterday. Maybe tomorrow I'll go back to the Slim.

I had used Every Man Jack shave cream. I had got it just before I started DE shaving when I decided to start making a change from can goo. I finally finished off a tube of Neutrogena cream, this one is next to go and never again. I have found Bigelow to be good, of course, along with C&E. And I'm now hooked on the VDH soap. So those will be my go to soaps and creams for now.

    48' Aristocrat
    Semogue SOC boar brush
    TOBS Grapefruit shave cream

    Body Shop Arber Aftershave Balm
Lucky Tiger aftershave & face tonic

I had skin irritation after using TOBS Grapefruit the one and only time Ive used it, so this will be a test to see if that was actually it.

I had some Neutrogena Shaving Cream,(I think I still have some) I didn't like it, and it does not lather good at all. I really should throw it in the trash. But then again the Neutrogena Men Invigorating Face Wash, that I basically use every morning is great. Go figure?

The Neutrogena sensitive skin shave cream lathered pretty good, I had no problems with it. The regular stuff, not at all.

    SOTD Saturday

    DSCN0171[1] (800x600).jpg

Set up for the next few days:

    Frankenpuck soap
    Vie Long Horse Hair brush
    Gillette Slim set on 5
    Astra SP blade
    Vintage Veg

Used several of the Waltham carbon steel blades, most had lost their edge, but found a couple that were very sharp. but still could only get two shaves out of each of them. Really like this version of the frankenpuck soap, the shave cream brings a lot to the party.

    Aggressive April - Saturday's Shave

Prep: Hot shower w/ Grandpa's Pine Tar
Soap: TSD Barber Shoppe shave stick
    Brush: Omega 13522
    Razor: Cadet OC
    Blade: Voskhod
Post: Witch Hazel, Nivea Sensitive Balm
    Scent: Tommy Bahama Very Cool

Started a 30 day focus to select a blade for the Cadet open comb that @Bama Samurai PIFed me. Much more aggressive than my Tech. Decent 2 pass shave today, not sure about the Voskhod with this one but will try it a few more days. The TSD soap performs quite well. Face lathers very easily and nice and thick.

    Home made PS oil
    Vie-long Horsehair brush
    Musco Real Classic shave cream
    G12 scuttle
    Ralf Aust 5/8 straight
    FB w/Rapira PL
    Musco Real Classic AS

Had a great shave today. It was the first time I have used Musco Real. I have to say I was impressed. Did the first pass with the straight then went ATG with my FB. Good, clean shave and was very enjoyable. So far, you can count me as a fan of Musco Real!

SoTD for Saturday April 4, Swee-do!

    Pre- BBC
    Soap- La Pere Lucien
    Brush- Lider
    Razor- Swee-Do
    Blade- astra sp
    Rinse- Osage
    Aftershave- Woodbury
    Balm- Kiehl's
    Cologne- Ho Hang Club

The Swee-Do razor is interesting. It takes a proprietary blade. Basically a standard DE blade, but with a rectangular opening in the center. This makes it seemingly useless. But, happily, it is quite easy to modify a blade to fit. I use a spring stock punch, and pop two side by side holes in the blade. Works great. Why go through the trouble? Mostly because I can, but more importantly, this razor shaves like a dream. I ran out of time yesterday after the gym, so I couldn't shave. The Swee-Do took the two days growth off easy. No irritation, no injuries, and a supernaturally close BBS. Seriously. I cannot recall the last time I had such a fantastic shave. I will be genuinely shocked if it all is grown back in tomorrow. These are the days that make all the experiments and misfires worth it.
And speaking of experiments, the brush of the day is an immense boar from Turkey. I bought it mostly for comedy value, because it is truly ugly. But shockingly, it is quite good. And unlike my Simpson, which I was surprised at how small it was, the Lider surprised me because it is so big. All for a price hovering in the $10 ballpark. Pretty cool.

Had a great shave, no irration at all from the Grapefruit shave cream which is a relief because I really like the scent and the performance from TOBS is top notch. The Lucky Tiger AS is a real nice change from the alcohol based AS I usually use. All in all a great citrus shave day.
