Shaving brushes are tools that we use to help us achieve a good shave.
If the boar is what helps you achieve a great shave, then boar it is.

Some time ago, I saw a video made by @mantic, (Mantic59 on YouTube)
and in that video he suggested that newbs would do well to purchase an Omega 48 boar brush.
Not because it was some magical answer-to-everything brush, but because it is a good quality brush
and a good value. I took this recommendation to heart, and I've owned and used an Omega 48 since.
Like you, that boar brush has a feel that suits me. Both in my hand, and on my face.
I've never had a regret about the purchase of that brush, and I don't believe that I ever will.

I tried the fancy high dollar "prom queen" silvertip badger brush, and I knew after the second use that I
had wasted my money. I feel no shame in that, and I now know that I'm not missing out on something better.
The boar is for me. If others believe their badgers to be superior to the boar, then so be it.

What matters is the quality of your shave.
If the boar is what helps you get smooth and clean, I'd stick with it.

I didn't go to prom with the queen.

I went with the one who suited me best. ;)

I've really come to prefer boars over badgers. Especially my Semogue brushes.

For me it's badgers over boar but must confess I do love the Omega 49. Great big handle and lots of scritch. The Omega 98 is also pretty cheap with the barbershop handle but believe it carries the same knot as the 49. Good for exfoliating. That saying I now have a mix of boar, Badger and synthetic.
Variety is the spice of life as the saying goes

I've been using boars for the past two months didn't like the semogues at first but now they are breaking in and getting better the omega 11137 out of the box was great I won't get rid of my ponies or badgers but I will stay with the boars a few more months to finish breaking them in. I've been impressed. They don't release lather as well but I like the pure white hairs and the work the hard soaps over really well

I never gave boar brushes much of a thought before. I received a AOS pure badger from a friend and never really looked at another. Then I purchased a small Vulfix pure badger as a travel brush.

Recently, I just bought a Omega Pro 48 boar. I have to say, even straight out of the box, it wasn't bad at all. I'm looking forward to breaking it in and seeing how well this brush turns out to be.
