Recieved this NIB Dovo Shavette as part of a trade and had forgot I had it until today.
  4. I'm very familiar with the lather from my own sea salt soap, and it's definitely not the type of lather you need for wet shaving! I've never tried that brand though...the packaging however, is outstanding!
  5. Mailman dropped me a Schick Dial Injector Razor after I got the shelf up.

  7. I'm gonna strop it, test it out. if it works, sotd. if not, mail box bound. it's too pretty to learn to hone on.

  10. dark it's no keener than my other ones, so it will go on the list to be sent out for honing.
  11. Arrived yesterday - an unopened/NIB Schick Platinum DE in a non-Platinum branded box.

Little know trivia fact - the Schick Platinum is almost identical to the Gillette Black Beauty in size (both head and length of handle).

(No, this is not how baby razors are made)

Will I ever open the box and shave with it?
    No.

    Why not?
Because I have an opened Platinum on its way to me that I do intend to use :)
  12. I've been doing some investigating this weekend and apparently there is a barbershop here in my city in north Carolina that sells merkur razors, jack black products, and art of shaving products.

I'm going to go check it out. Ill be pretty pumped to find a store that carries wet shaving products.

  15. I wanted to post a better photo, but my lightbox isn't set up, and my camera battery is dead. I found this in Lewisburg, PA, on Saturday.
    Rolls 1 (800x600).jpg
The case is a little grungy, but the razor, the metal case, and all the parts, show very few signs of use. It even has a spare, unused blade. Best of all, the hone isn't cracked.

So, a few questions: Do I need to have the blades professionally honed, or can I just follow the directions for honing? Should I treat the strop with mink oil, or something similar? The instructions say to not oil any of the parts, but the honing/stropping handle doesn't move smoothly in its runners. Suggestions? Finally: I read the instructions, but how the heck do I shave with this thing?

  16. Love the looks of those rolls razors. several threads about them.
actually, I like the box. streamline and shiny. the razor itself looks like a dental instrument.

  17. If you have a Sephora cosmetics store in your area or mall, they also sell the AOS and Jack Black products and they have demo bottles and tube so you can smell them.
