1. Plan to revisit all the blades that I've already tried with it. And man, that angle is SHALLOW lol.

  2. I am so glad you're getting it down...I like aggressive razors...less passes...less chance to irritate the skin.:happy088:
  3. The brush looks even better in the SOTD photo than the Haul Photo you posted.

    Prep: Hot shower
    Razor: Merkur 34C
    Brush: Omega 80080 Boar Brush
    Blade: Feather (3)
    Soap: TSD Sandalwood sample
Post: Cold rinse, Alum block, TSD Sandalwood AS Milk sample :love055:

My first time with the TSD soap. Very nice and subtle sandalwood. Not very overpowering. Lovely smell in general! JoAnna makes some great stuff! :happy088:
The shave was excellent with 2 passes (XTG, ATG) + touch up and the TSD sandalwood aftershave milk sealed the deal. Love the milk!

Hope everyone's having a great day!

  12. Fourth day with the Tradere OC and it continues to amaze and delight.

It was also the very first time I used the VDH Deluxe soap today.
I must admit my feelings towards the soap can be summed up like:
"If I had to I could easily shave with it - but there was nothing about the soap (scent or performance) that would make me deliberately pick it ahead of a number of other soaps I have".

    Razor: Tradere OC, 2nd gen
    Blade: Personna
    Brush: L'Occitane Plisson
    Soap: VDH Deluxe
A/S: Myrsol Blue followed by some Anherb

  13. Thursday:
hot shower w/Plain Jane & Co Masculine Musk bar soap
    Homemade PSO
    Gillette Slim (9) 2+ passes
    Rapira Swedish Supersteel (5)
GFT Spanish Leather cream in a warm bowl
    Long Handled boar
    Thayers unscented w/aloe
    GFT Spanish Leather AS (sample)

A little too much gung in my gung-ho this morning and I ended up with enough lather for two men and a boy. Another great shave with a Rapira S/S. Usually I retire a blade after 4 or 5 shaves but this one doesn't feel like it's done yet.

  14. That's my opinion of VDH too. It's good soap, and adequate...but fails to provide any standout qualities. But a good product nonetheless.

    Dove Men Face Wash
Van Der Hagen Deluxe Shave Soap
    Semogue 1305 Boar Brush
    Gillette Fatboy F2
    Sputnik Stainless
    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    Thayers Lemon WH
    Pinaud Vegetal

The Van Der Hagen Deluxe Shave Soap face-lathered well with my Semogue 1305 Boar Brush. Two passes with my Gillette Fatboy razor and a Sputnik Stainless blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Pinaud Vegetal after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

This is the last shave with the fatboy for my Adjustable Month. Next, the Schick M is up for ten days.
  17. That OC looks like a Gillette "Old" to me from the picture. I have an "Old" OC and it gives me a rough shave. I've worked on it by "riding the cap", and that seems to help. But I dont pick it up very often.

  19. I just recently got a puck of the VDH Deluxe but haven't used it yet. I've only used the VDH Luxury, and like it. Admittedly, I don't have a big selection to chose from that I've tried though (3). Hopefully this weekend I'll use the Deluxe and can do a comparison.
