Not sure if I should call myself a Vie-Long horse hair brush user - I think I'm more of an owner (12705). I've given it a number of tries but just don't like it. Scritchy, lack of backbone and sub-par performer compared to my other brushes. Then again I think I picked the 'least liked' VieLong - the 12705.
Mhmm, I don't like that one either. The handle is cumbersome and the loft is "floppy." I like the one I have very much. ADDENDUM: Some report that the handle on the 12705 eventually cracks with repeated use.
Yeah I think I picked the wrong one - but since I got it for $3 brand new I thought I'd give it a try. It seems like the other VieLongs are getting much more love though.
Mine is a V-L 13710. I love everything about it. I face lather and have a $30 Frank badger and a BestShave boar. I like all three, but the one I love the most is the Vie-Long.
I have three====12750 butterscotch. Lord Randall white, and Lord Randall mixed knot. I love them all!!!!
I have a Vie-Long 12705. Nice brush for the money ($18) but really funky smelling at first. Slightly "scratchy" too, as you have to use a lighter touch and more of a "paint brush" motion to apply lather. All-in-all okay the money but it gave me no desire to look into horse hair brushes any further.

I have Vie-Long 12705B (the one with natural white hair, 50/50 ratio) and i love it. It holds water better than Omega 10066 and provides better massaging sensation. Very pleasant to use. It is a little bit scratchy, a thing that i find odd, as, when it's dry, it feels much softer than 10066, but the second one is not scratchy at all. I hope it will broke it. One plus for Vie-Long, it dries faster than boar. Much faster. The smell is not something too bad for me. I did the "leave lather on the brush for few hours" trick for few times and the smell was gone after two cycles.
My first VL was 13065-1, brown hair 35/65 mane/ tail. It made allot of lather but scritchy and not soft. The. I bought a 12075B, it white fan 50/50 hair and its a very brush, soft with backbone and not scritchy.
