Hi. I'm a newby to the forum so please forgive any ignorance that may arise. I have recently acquired a open comb 3 piece in a black press stud fastening case (very similar case to early Gillette ones). The case lid interior is marked 'Duplex Adjustable, British Make'. The razor is marked on the underside of the plate 'British Made'. I cannot trace this set anywhere and need help. I know the Durham Duplex razors and this is not one of the usual suspects. Anyone ever heard of these? I can post pictures to help if required. Thanks.
Great score! Very nice looking razor!! The set looks to be complete and in really good shape. Just an FYI for you, while I realize the razor separates into 3 pieces, whenever the comb is permanently attached to the handle it's considered a 2 piece.
I always thought if the razor broke down into 3 pieces it was called a 3 piece but maybe I live and learn. Damn right it looks fine, thank you sir. Probably the only one I've owned but never seen before.
Nice razor. You should go over to the Newbie Forum and introduce yourself for a proper welcome. http://theshaveden.com/forums/forums/newbies.28/
I think I will, first time doing any of this forum stuff so I appreciate the guidance!! By the way, hello to everyone from sunny Yorkshire, England
It's called a 2 piece because on some of them at least the inner handle and the outer handle remain attached through the use of a small clip and so are thought of as one piece with the cap being the second piece. On the 3 piece the handle is one piece and the separate cap and comb are the other two pieces. Sorry I wasn't trying to dis your razor just give you a heads up on terminology. However as @Omaney pointed out the number of pieces isn't important. How it shaves and whether you like it or not is all that counts..
