Ever had one of those shaves where you just felt off? Today just seemed like everything I did was just a bit different than normal. The shave was not quite as good as I normally get nor as comfortable. But the Stirling AS still felt good going on, so it is off to tackle this Friday.

    Fougère Friday
Excellent shave today. Fougère Imperiale lathered up very easily into creamy yogurt, applied with the lather monster. Der vorschlaghammer had no trouble reducing my stubble. Fougère Classique finished up this drama free shave right.

    Soap: B&M Fougère Imperiale

I've felt that way. Sometimes it's just going too fast for me or maybe too groggy in the morning.

After nearly two weeks of face lathering MDC I decided to bowl lather today. I did learn a few things. First, I learned that if I could only have one soap, it would definitely be MDC. Second, the lather formed when bowl lathering is better than when I face lather, but I do use more product. 3 passes today and another great shave.

I will throw in my two cents worth here. MWF is a fine product that produces a very good lather. It is definitely in my top 10.

Mwf can be a challenge to get it to yield lather but once you find the right technique, you'll be rewarded with some great lather. Do some internet searches as there are several YouTube vids and forum discussions regarding the process.

I too must chime in. I love The Fat. I must be blessed with good water. I cold water shave and face lather. I've never had a problem with The Fat. Top 5 for me.

Yep, it must be almost the weekend and we're hurrying or something. Today I finished and actually took a slice of of my finger putting the razor away. Never did that before.

After using my new Glacial Spearmint soap I must say this - the menthol effect is so damned powerful that it's almost a match for the Chiseled Face Cryogen. Rod increased the menthol content, apparently. The lather of this new Glacial version is also quite easy now to whip up.

Prep: warm wash with castille soap
Lather: St. James of London Mandarin & Patchouli
Brush: Omega 6214 silvertip (maiden voyage)
    Razor: Gillette New LC
    Blade: Rapira Stainless (5)
Post: Clubman Classic Vanilla aftershave lotion

This is my first try with a badger brush and I expect there is a learning curve on making lather. I've never had cream make this much lather so quickly, but it was little light and airy on the first go. But, the shave was amazing and 2 passes later I declare a CCS.

Funny story...well, I thought it was funny...This brush and aftershave came to me from the $100 WCS gift card I received. I was showing my wife the haul and she made the appropriate cooing noises. As she inspected the brush, she asked if I had used it yet because it smelled good. Our 11 year old son, who was hovering around and inserting comments as the spirit moved him, piped up and said, "Well, its known that the badger is a good smelling animal!" Where do they come up with this stuff? Anyways, here is what $100 will buy at West Coast Shaving (minus my $8 New LC)

Very near 3 pass BBS this morning. First time using this new to me Shavemac Silvertip DO1. Managed to get a good lather but the knot is very dense. I'm sure I'll get it dialed in after a few uses. Finished up with witch hazel followed by a splash of Captain's Choice Bay Rum. Happy Friday! Hope everyone has a great weekend.

    Razor: RazoRock Bamboozled RAKE OC

    Passes: WTG, XTG, ATG (9, 10, 11)
Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma alum, Dickinson's WH, RazoRock One-X AS splash
Cologne: Jasmin et Cigarette by Etat Libre d' Orange

I have four jars of the RazoRock One-X. Why? 1)It went on special at Italian Barber, possibly indicating I was one of the few to like it. 2) It's an amazing performer for me. 3) My significant other is a very generous woman and bought them for me. In keeping with the week's accidental theme, I bowl-lathered the One-X, for the first time in I don't remember how long. Talk about your exercise in excess! More than enough lather for all three passes, super thick, ridiculously consistent and moisturizing. This helped the Bic through all 3 passes on Day 4 with nary a nick or sign of iritation, topped off with the matching AS and more jasmine goodness from the EdT.

    4/24/2015 Nationwide Box Tour!

Prep: Hot shower with Neutrogena Face Wash with menthol, home made PSO
Razor: Muhle R41 (2010), Hamburg Concave Quick Cutter straight razor
    Blade: Astra SP (3)
    Brush: Turkish #6
    Soap: Stirling - Vanilla Sandalwood
After: Home made ASB, Nivea after shave balm
    Cologne: 1969

I am using items from the Nationwide Box Tour this week. The Vanilla Sandalwood was whipped up nicely by the #6 brush. It has a light sandalwood scent in the background and the sweetness of Vanilla on top. The R41 and the Quick Cutter made short work of the stubble this morning. The Nivea ASB brought the moisturizing and the 1969 will have me smelling good all day. All in all it was another Darn Fine Shave.

    Have a blessed day!
