SOTD - Saturday, May 2, 2015 Shower Prep: Homemade PSO Brush: Simpsons Duke 3 Soap: MdC Fougere Razor: Merkur 38C Blade: Personna Lab Blue (1) Aftershave: Fine Fresh Vetiver
Damn, damn, damn - the MITA was right in front of me yesterday and I didn't use it. It's such a nice soap which I forgot to re-order when I made my purchase not long ago. I'll do that soon because I love that soap. The Black Ice is also awesome!
Compared a new Dollar General Trac II cart to one of the Gillette Trac II carts I found the other day. Now I can see why Gillette continues to sell them for around $18 for 10, because guys keep buying them because they WORK. I expected them to be somewhat better than the DG but they are much better. 2 pass BBS and a few small nicks, which I never get with the DGs. That shows how much sharper the blades are. Anyway, I can't afford to make them a regular item but they give 100% as good a result as any DE and blade combo that I own. If I went back to carts, this is what I'd go back to, I think...or the Dollar Tree Personas. They're nice too. But these are nicer.
Razor: Gillette SS, 1947 Birth razor. Blade: Gillette Platinum (Day 2) Brush: WDC-2 Grandfather's Handle, Whipped Dog High Mountain Badger Knot. Soap: Jack's Soap Bowl: KO Shave Mug: Old Spice Coffee Mug/w brush stand. Soak AS: Clubman Lime. This focus is on Brushes. The Whipped Dog High Mountain Badger is a must brush for any Shave Den. This brush sucks up the lather and allows for three to four passes. Hold water great and is probably the best brush I have. With the other tools and AS this is probably the best shave I can ever hope to get. Clubman Lime is an excellent AS, the Gillette Platinum blade performs great, and the Jack's Soap is made for this brush. The Gillette SS 1947 must be one of the best DE razors ever manufactured. This is a must combination for all DE shavers. IMHO
Glad to hear you like the WD High Mountain Badger so much. I am hoping to get my hands on one shortly, as soon as Larry gets his knots in.
Sunday's Dove Men Face Wash TOBS Lavender Jayaruh WC1 Silver Tip Schick E2 Personna Stainless CWR, Asma Alum Block Thayers Rose Petal WH FD Old Spice The TOBS Lavender shaving cream face-lathered well with my Jayaruh WC1 Silver Tip badger brush. Two passes with my Schick E2 razor and a Personna Stainless blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Rose Petal WH and then FD Old Spice after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

MAYhem & Mercy May 2, 2015 Prep - Hot shower and towel Brush - Tweezerman Badger Soap - Williams (Is it a soap or not?) Mug Shaving Soap Razor - Vintage Soviet - the "Soyuz 1" Blade - (1) Post - Alum, Nivea Replenishing Post Shave Balm Day two of MAYhem, day one of the Zaza blade. This is a blade from Turkey and I have rarely seen it mentioned in forums. However, it is usually not mentioned favorably, though I do think I saw one fan. Well, YMMV as we all know, especially on blades. For me this is a pretty poor blade. I noticed immediately that it lacked something important to a blade.....sharpness. It also tended to pull a bit indicating it was having trouble cutting which means it lacked......sharpness. It didn't help that the Williams and Tweezerman are woefully bad in attempting lather. For the FULL REPORT YOU CAN GO HERE!

Planned Sunday SOTD Gibbs No15 adjustable razor Gillette spoiler blade (modded to fit) Butterscotch badger brush (unknown mfg) Myrsol Emulsion preshave Castle Forbes Lime EO shaving cream Captains Choice North aftershave Royall Lime AS cologne Im trying the Vintage Gibbs razor for the first time. Standard DE blades need to be modded to fit the razor but it was an easily done with a dremel. The little butterscotch handled brush will be getting a new TGN silvertip knot next week so figured I should use it at least once before the restore. The original knot is way too floppy for my liking.
