Loading an injector blade

    I'm new to injectors, and my first shave attempt yesterday didn't go well.
    I could feel the blade against my skin, but it wasn't removing any whiskers.
    Did I get the blade installed correctly?

    It is hard to not load the blade right. Yours looks good. That looks like one of the older Schicks. I am using an E-2 this week. It is pretty aggressive for an injector to me. Pictured below is my M-2.
    You just have to work on your angle, and use light strokes. What blade are you using?

    If there is no blade in the razor when you load the new one, it's possible to mess up the edge on the new blade.

    You are right there, Clint. I forgot about that possibility. You run the edge against those posts and it is toast.

    Something about the OP's photo does not look right, could just be a light/shadow thing.

    This is exactly why I usually use a lever-open Schick. ;)

    Thanks everybody for the help.

    @Jayaruh
    I'm using blades I ordered from Ted Pella. I've measured and compared them against an old blade
    that was in this razor when I got it, and they appear to be identical.

    Hopefully I got the right blade. :confused:

    @clint64

    I think you've hit the nail on the head, and I thank you for bringing that up.
    I partially disassembled this razor when I got it because is was pretty nasty.
    I guess I got in a hurry after I cleaned it. I just shoved the carrier into the slot
    and pushed in a blade. I never thought to look and see if the blade edge was
    scraping along the edge of the guide. I'll bet that's what happened. :ashamed001:

    @gorgo2

    I got an EverSharp Hydro-Magic at the same time I got other injector, and I think it opens up, but I've not got it cleaned and ready to use just yet.

    Thanks fellas!

    I snapped a couple of pics once I got it cleaned up.
    It's in better shape than I thought it was at first.

    It cleaned up really nice. I'd try just changing the blade with a new one and watch to make sure the edge does not get damaged.
