Picked up a bunch of shave stuff today. These are the safety razors.
    • H2 Slim adjustable (1962) – Cleaned up great, all adjustments work and opens smoothly.
    • No name OC three piece- Cleaned up nice. Any ideas on maker?
    • National Plastic (Bakelite?) three piece razor. Marked “19” or “I9”. Easy clean up.
    • GEM Junior. I think this is a 1912 model.- Needs another round of polishing.

Good haul. I think the open comb was a very basic no-name contract model for prisons, etc. Many variants on that basic style floating around.

Excellent work. Great to see how wonderful they look after some elbow grease. I think I may have read it on here but toothpaste and an old toothbrush is great for tight spots. I have to confess I probably could not have seen the beauty under the layers of "scum" you have seen. I would have continued on :) This is a great encouragement for anyone unsure what razors can be recovered.

I soaked these in hot water for about 10 minutes. Used a tooth brush to clean. The scrubed with hot water toothbrush and dish soap. The OC and plastic one were mostly done at that point. Used two round of scrubbing bubbles and a toothbrush on the slim and the GEM. Then polished the all with Barkeeper's Friend. Took about an hour for all of them. I didn't know if the slim was going to clean up.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the info!
I have some to clean/replate myself!
I like the "Flitz" polish as a last go round!

:signs011: Awesome cleanup! :happy088: If you don't have one you have to try the Slim, it has become my favorite. Easily adjusts to different blades and days of stubble. Nice score!:eatdrink047:

There can never be too many razor photos in a thread.

I have a Slim I did a 30 day rule with in January. This one cleaned almost as nice. I am actually excited to try the other two DEs. Not sure about the GEM yet.

The GEM will treat you well. Shave it like it is designed not like a DE.

    I agree with bald as.
    The Gem looks sweet.
I've tried 2 different Slims and was equally disappointed with both.
I tried a Gem Micro Matic Clog pruf for the first time today, and it about killed me.
BUT, come to find out it was bent and the blade was not seating properly.
After about 2 hours of work getting it straightened, I shaved with it again and I
have to say I was completely amazed. A DFS with one pass, and an extremely smooth shave.
I would certainly give the Gem a try.

    Nice looking razors all around.
I'm looking forward to hearing of your experience with the bakelite razor in particular.

    Happy Shaving!!
