Not much I can add, except to prop up the old Fatip a bit. Some have really bad luck with them, but I've had just the opposite. The Fatip Grand is very nice and not too expensive. (+/- $25) Just one thing. It may not feel aggressive at first because it's smooth with just about any blade you care to put in it, but do not let your attention wane. Not even for a second. The Gillette news are very good. It's rare to hear someone say they don't like one or the other. The Merkur 15C, 25C, and 1904 are very mild, but with a sharp blade do quite well. If you aren't afraid of something older and a bit different, there is the Gem Micro-Matic open comb singe edge razor. It requires a bit of adjustment from what you've learned with the DE, but it isn't overwhelming. The shave is very smooth, and some report their blades lasting 10 shaves or more. Whatever your choice, I wish you Happy Shaving!!

I've used: Joris/Cadet Fatip iKon OC iKon OSS iKon SC 101 PAA DOC Muhle R41 2013 Out of those, the OC side of the iKon SC 101 is my favorite. Next up is probably the PAA DOC. They're both mild, yet efficient. The others were too aggressive for my taste. The Maggard's will have an OC base plate available soon. It's going to be made from brass. It may be worth a look.
I seem to recall awhile back when the NEW wasn't all that well known or not all that popular. Better days now for the NEW, and a most deserving razor it is.
I've got 2 OC's. #1 is a Merkur 1904 'vintage' as seen in pics on page 1. Love the head, hate the handle so I turned it into a frankenrazor. #2 is a Cadet OC Both are good. The Merkur is mild and the Cadet aggressive.
If you mean the ends of the handle, no. The vast majority do however because the thin tubular shaft splits.
