Too bad you won't have a chance to try the DLC version! It is much smoother than the PH, in my opinion! Not as aggressive and, oh, so smooth!
Awesome. I've never seen a toggle on the SOTD in any forum. I'm glad it's a great shaver. It's a beauty!

Happy Birthday to your Mom! 90 and going to renew her license!! That is awesome! Most of us should be so lucky to make it to 90 let alone have the wherewithal to be heading out to renew our license! Congrats to her and give her a BIG TSD hug! arty:
SOTD 5-7-15 Razor: ATT R1 plate with MR1 handle Blade: Astra SP (2) Soap: Tiki Land Locked Bowl: VDH Brush: VDH Boar Post: Gentleman Jon Alum block Preshave was just face wash with warm water and post shave was rinse with warm water then some cold water splashes and pat dry, then apply the alum block Razor: I haven't used this R plate in a while so I decided to give it a try and it is a very good plate but not quite as good as the H1 plate, now that I have used the H1, I am liking the H! plate better than the R1 plate! Blade: This is a very good blade and one of my main go-to's so no issues at all! Soap: It lathered easy and got plenty of it for my three passes and some touch up. Great slickness and protection! Post shave feel is real good! No complaints on the scent either so issues at all! Comments: Shave was very good and very close but not quite as close as with the H1 plate. I did get a DFS but not quite a BBS. No nicks but did feel some irritation on the jawline and chin area based on the Alum block. Another very good shave with no major issues but I did do one extra pass and did get some irritation! I think the more passes were based on the R1 plate vs the H1 plate. Don't get me wrong, the R1 plate is a great plate but to me the H1 might just be the step above it. Please feel free to leave comments on any items used as I enjoy reading them to see what others say about the gear I am using/trying out! Of course, YMMV! Thx.
Friday's Dove Men Face Wash Col. Conk Amber Shave Soap Jayaruh #8 Pure Badger Dad's Schick E3 Personna Stainless CWR, Asma Alum Block Thayers Rose Petal WH Barbasol Brisk AS The Col. Conk Amber Shave Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #8 Pure Badger brush. Two passes with my Dad's Schick E3 razor and a Personna Stainless blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Rose Petal WH and then Barbasol Brisk after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
Brush Focus: Day 7 Brush: WDC-3 Whipped Dog Sliver Tip 2, 24/6 Olive Wood Handle Gillette Super Speed, 1947 Birth Razor. Gillette Platinum Blade (6) Bowl: KO Shave Soap: Jack's Soap AS: Afta AS & Conditioner Old Spice Coffee Mug. This brush is deep set and what a difference it makes. Although the Whipped Dog knot was not cut very well (uneven) the deep setting makes all the difference in the world. This brush performs amazing. Produces an outstanding lather and loads extremely well. Three passes and a clean up no problem. Probably one of the best shaves I've ever had and I owe to this brush. The blade preformed well, but I will change it tomorrow along with a different razor. Afta is a nice change. The knot is 22mm deep and I added a 0.25 to raise the not a bit and for weight.
Hot weather's a-comin' but I have all the right stuff for it! Friday's planned shave: Neutrogena Men Facial Wash Large Horsehair Barbershop Super Speed/SuperMax Blue day 5 Stirling Glacial Lavender SS Stirling Glacial Wintergreen AS Balm Stirling Glacial Wintergreen WH Chabrawichi 555 Cologne Oh, I'm gonna have such a blast while freezing my face off - some of the best and coldest stuff is waiting for me. My Glacial Lavender soap gives a menthol wallop to end all menthol wallops, not to mention its lovely scent and great lather. The Glacial Wintergreen balm feels ten times colder than the Rubby Dubby Doo, and its moisturizing and soothing cannot be beaten. The matching witch hazel is another bona fide face-freezer and a marvellous skin soother which I love so much. Day five for the SuperMax Blue blade - let's hope it keeps up the terrific performance. A nice weekend to everyone in advance!
Again I forgot to post the You Tube video I'll be listening to for my shave - it's Remmy Ongala from Tanzania singing "Kilio" (tears) which is a very nice Swahili song. Whoever wants me to translate for them, I'll be happy to!
