Prep - Shower / Pre-lather / 3 min steam towel Razor - Gillette Fatboy Blade - Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Stainless Green (#3) Brush - Omega 20106 Soap - Arko with Menthol Crystals After - Frozen towel / Alum & WH Mix Result - BBS Like going to dinner with a good friend, an evenings pleasure with the Fatboy. I got some menthol crystals to add to the old dependable Arko. How'd it go? Well put it like this, from here on I shall be referring to them by their proper name - MENTAL crystals! I realise that first time, I may have slightly over estimated the amount to add but I think walking through a room that they're in, would be suffice. It is most likely akin to jumping from a great height into sub zero saltwater after first having your facial skin removed with a hatchet! So to the blade, I've been very impressed with these, very comfortable and forgiving but after three shaves, I'm not sure number four would be as good, better safe than sorry. One thing I'd neglected to mention previously though, was that it seemed to catch on the silo doors of my Slim Adjustable when I took it out. The same thing happened tonight. I don't believe I've found this with any other blade, perhaps someone may shed some light as to a possible reason? Won't detract from the shave though, very smooth results. One of my favourite parts of my routine is the frozen towel I use after shaving. I keep it on for somewhere between thirty seconds and a minute. Anyone familiar with it may attest to the feeling after taking it off. The blood very quickly rushes into the area to heat the skin again, bringing oxygen with it. I'd swear this helps healing, but regardless, it feels amazing! Tonight was ever so slightly different to the norm. The mental crystals magnified the effect of the big freeze, in much the same way an afterburner magnifies thrust! The results speak for themselves though, a ridiculously smooth, irritation-free face, like running your finger along wet rubber. It may not sound like it but I highly recommend it......just don't turn the dial up eleven!
Saturday's Dove Men Face Wash Mitchell's Wool Fat Jayaruh WC1 Silver Tip Dad's Schick E3 Personna Stainless CWR, Asma Alum Block Thayers Rose Petal WH Barbasol Brisk The Mitchell's Wool Fat face-lathered well with my Jayaruh WC1 Silver Tip badger brush. Two passes with my Dad's Schick E3 razor and a Personna Stainless blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Rose Petal WH and then Barbasol Brisk after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
Yep. He made that handle sometime in the last century. I don't recall. He gave it to my younger brother, and my brother passed it on to me after my dad died. On one side you can see very faintly where he engraved my brother's name, but on this side there is what looks like a little palm tree.

Another hot, humid day coming up for tomorrow. What's the solution? Lots of menthol! Saturday's selection: Neutrogena Men Facial Wash Large Horsehair Barbershop Super Speed/SuperMax Blue day 6 Stirling Glacial Lemon Chill SS Gold Bond Moisturizer Alcolado Glacial Menthol Splash Chabrawichi 555 Cologne Ahhhhhhhhhhh, I can feel the frigidness already - just thinking about the Glacial Lemon Chill soap with its delightful lemony/icy menthol scent and rich, slick lather makes me want to take it out for a shave right now, but I'll wait until the morning. That freezing sensation is da BOMBBBBBBBBBBBB. The skincare of this soap is top-of-the-line as well. The Gold Bond provides everything I need from a balm also, because it's so cooling and protective. I'll be very generous with the Penguin so I can feel frozen all day. My SuperMax Blue seems to be getting a bit tired but I'm sure it'll keep going for this shave and Sunday's.
No picture today. Very busy at work these days. SOTD 8 May 2014 Gillette Slim Rapira Platinum Lux Taconic Bay Rum Soap Ever Ready C40 with TGN 3 Band Synthetic 24/53 mm Brush
May 8 Stirling Sheep facial soap Weber PH Feather blade (day 1) Rudy Vey Shavemac two-band silvertip MdC scented shave soap Two passes plus touch-ups Alum, Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Alt-Innsbruck I'm starting to get the hang of the MdC, and it's a very nice soap. The lather is much improved over just a week ago, and I think it will be even better with more experience. I'm waiting for my XPEC and LPL to arrive from the UK, so I will stick with MdC for a few more days. I start most days reaching for all these goodies...Have a fantastic weekend.
All those wonderful soaps and stuff! But I'm sticking to the 30 day plan of rotating through all the blades. No other changes BBS, finally! Technique must be better Hot washcloth Nivea gel Vie-Long horsehair Weishi long handle heavyweight Sharp brand blade WTG, XTG, ATG No divots removed! cold water WH And getting better with acronyms
I got this Schick in an auction and it came with a faux horn handle. The handle disintegrated, so I made my own wooden handle for it. It is not as extremely neat as my dad's handle, but it was his that inspired this.
Oh la la, again I forgot to include the music I'll be listening to tomorrow morning. This is from a terrific party which my wife and I went to when we were in Guadeloupe last year. The DJ was playing all kinds of awesome music, such as soukouss, R&B, salsa, meringue, and zouk. This song is my wife's favourite.
Thank you. It's far from mint, but I love the look and character. I found it at a local antique store on my birthday, and It's a great little shaver.
In my opinion Ralon is better performance wise and I'm really enjoying the smell of it. I didnt try the swiss Pitralon yet so keep that in mind
Hello, Worked outside today so I shaved in shower to save time. Merkur Mergress (converted Progress) long handle set at 3.5 , Wilkinson Sword and canned Aveeno (TOBS cream and brush got the day off). BBS supreme! This is one of my favorite razors in rotation. Cheers John
Evening shave Pre: hot bath with Stirling Spice bath soap Shave Soap: Stirling Spice Razor: R-89 with Tiger Super Max Platinum (2nd shave) Post: Lemon Witchazel, Auqua Velva Musk, and Old Spice Aftershave Cologne: Tommy Hilfiger The Tiger blade is sharp but seems to be more irritating to my face. I can get my face BBS, and even got my neck to a DFS tonight, but dang I get weepers with these blades. Looks more like I had a tiger hanging off my neck than a Tiger razor blade. Im glad I tried these, tho. I have a few more blades to try yet...
