I think my slim hates me....

2 days in a row where everything is BBS except my neck. Called it quits on the neck after the first pass and grabbed my Red Tip. 8 cuts and Razor Rash everywhere. Am I doing something wrong? I use no pressure and my angle is perfect just for some reason the slim tears my neck up.

    Help?

What setting were you at? What blade? I actually have my Slim in the mail today and look forward to cleaning it up and trying it out!

Even if you adjusted the Slim so that the blade gap matched your Red Tip perfectly, your Slim likely needs a different angle. THEN there are the several other dimensional changes to consider when swapping razors.

    My best advice is:
    1) carefully consider the angle of the blade in relation to your skin. Not the angle of the handle or the head. The blade.

    2) Study the hair direction. The neck is a universal trouble area. Matching razor+blade+angle+shave_direction to the specific direction of hair growth makes the BBS magic everywhere on the neck. Your hair growth map is as individual as a fingerprint.

    3) Adapt to the specific razor of the day. Once you get it down with one razor, many techniques will carry across razors. However, certain razors will need a touch or stroke specific to that razor. I am an avowed baby-chaser, but I still run into self-inflicted misery if I leave a given razor out of rotation too long and then fail to proceed with caution! I'd like to think I've been doing this long enough that I'd know better, but I'm just not that bright.

    Good luck!

I haven't used a Red Tip, but think 7 is a little bit on the bitey end of the Slim. I vote to start at maybe a 4. Try to get close to your baseline and branch out from there.

I'll have to try at a lower setting. My dad uses his slim set on 9 as his daily driver... (he's insane) :D

the slim is supposed to like everyone. I.e. adjustable. check to see if it's bent, if it checks out ok. I'd say dial it back some, at least on your neck. I think the red tip is about like a 4-5. also make sure it's not stuck on 9, maybe a trip through the dishwasher on hot.
    good luck, d

I have to admit that I really love my fatboy and super adjustable but for some reason the slim just doesn't do me the same way. I usually end up with some irritation on my neck most time then not.

Your slim does not hate you, not in the least.
In fact, it taught you a lesson just today.
(just as mine has done to me)
Switching back and forth between razors can really mess up a man's day.
There is a ton of difference between a red tip and a slim.
Is the red tip your favorite or go-to razor?
How much time do you have with the red tip?

The slim has been my go to for 4 months now but I got a red tip 3 weeks ago and my slim has gotten lonely and jealous I think and today it was out for blood :)

What MM said. Angle and pressure are especially critical on the neck, I've found.

This is very good advice 7 is way too open! 4 is about where you want. Maybe 5.

The slim has a setting for you. Find the right angle, the right setting, little to no pressure, and you will be in heaven with your slim.
