Some of you may know that I enjoy tinkering and bringing these old tools back to their intended purpose. I'm very much an eBay prowler and am ever vigilant for a "deal". Case in point; I recently picked these two uglies up at a steal. Nobody in their right mind would want these, right? [IMG][IMG]

Wrong. A little, and I mean a little TLC and these two classics are ready to make someone very happy (me for instance, when I flip them).

Beautiful work. I would love to know what goes into the restoration of pieces like these.

Wow! Amazing clean ups! And here I tuned in thinking it would be another joyous Veg-bashing thread.

Naw, that'd be more boring than a favorite blade thread.

    Well, Ok then.
    1. Several hours soaking in a solution of Oxyclean and water with an occasional toothbrush scrub.
    2. Ran them through a few cycles in an ultrasonic cleaner to get the internals cleaned out. Basically, keep doing it until no more cloudy wisps eminate from either end of the razor.
    3. Blow off with compressed air. Totally unnecessary, but dang it, I have a compressor and I'm gonna use it.

    Nicely done!
Although I think a good rinse off in water initially was all you needed for a really good, rustic shaving experience!

No, they're flipped already. I have an example of each in my own collection.
