Last nights shave was close, while not uncomfortable, it was not as comfortable as usual given the very forgiving feather popular razor I used. The fault was mine as I did to much buffing and touching up.

    Last nights set up.
    -feather popular razor
    -astra sp (2)
    -nivea sensitive cream
    -omega syntex brush
    -Gabels lilac aftershave
    -aveeno fragrance free aftershave lotion.

The shave was OK, the highlight was my wife saying I smelled nice and asking what I was wearing.

I've got a great "Antique Shave" planned for Friday:

    Nivea Facial Wash
    Large Horsehair Barbershop
    Super Speed/Derby day 7
    Vintage Colgate Shaving Stick :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055:
    Lubriderm Unscented Moisturizer :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055:
    Booster Polar Ice AS :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055:
    Aramis EdT

Once again, no menthol stuff because I'm going to be shaving extra old-school. This Colgate stick is from a seller in Sweden, (it may even have been made there) and a very nice young gentleman hooked me up with this seller so I was able to buy it. The stick smells so traditional and nice, it gives rich, stable lather which is so easy to whip up, and the skincare is pretty good as well. The Lubriderm moisturizer does an excellent job of hydrating and protecting sensitive skin - in fact a lot of dermatologists recommend it. Don't let the name Polar Ice fool you, there ain't no cooling effect from it whatsoever, but I still love it. The Derby blade is still working like a champ. ;) :D

I wish everyone a fantastic weekend in advance! :)

Hope things get better soon Patrick. Losing the use of my right hand for 6 weeks was a serious PITA. I can't imagine having trouble with both.

I really like the polar Ice too. I just wish the scent would last longer than 5 mins on me.

Yes you can for sure tell the weather better than those clowns on the TV can. About the only time they get it right is when they walk outside into the rain.

If I wear it alone it lasts a while, but at least it doesn't foul up the scent of an eau de toilette or a cologne.

I've been wanting to try Tabac for quite sometime but really didn't need anymore soaps or creams. Earlier this week I found the Tabac refill stick on Amazon for $9.45 w/free shipping so I bought it. (I swear this will be my last purchase for a while). I really like the scent and look forward to using it for tomorrow's SOTD. Here's my game plan for 5/22/15...........

Tabac Stick (face lathered) w/Semogue Owner's Club Boar
40's Super Speed w/7 o'clock Black (6th shave and blade was strong at 5)
Witch Hazel followed by Nivea Sensitive Balm
Aqua Velva Classic (I think it will pair well w/the Tabac)

I've heard many great things about Tabac and look forward to using...................

Yet another superb shave using the 1924 and the GEM SS blade. [3]
Due to chipping the rim of my scuttle the other day I face lathered today with my #6 Turkish and my homebrew soap.
1 pass WTG and some minor touchups ATG and the shave was done. Not only will my DE's never taste lather again, my other SE's are looking nervous and lonely. Why did they make any other razors after the 1924? The angle on the 1924 is so easy that ATG on the neck cause zero irritation. My opinion - the 1924 is streets ahead of the 1912 and the 1912 is brilliant.

    SOTD 5-21-15 Attempted

    Razor: Parker stainless shavette
    Blade: Derby (1/2 blade)
    Soap: Proraso White tub
    Brush: VDH Boar
    Bowl: VDH

Preshave was just wash face with soap and hot water. Post shave is cold water rinsing and pat dry.

Today's shave didnt go as planned. I did my lather just fine and started to use the shavette and all is going okay on cheek areas while trying to maintain angle and see what I am doing. Jawline wasnt too bad but I felt that I didnt have the right angle or something as it didnt seem to remove much beard during the pass. I then went to the mustache area and found that I could not just stick it in their and shave downward as I tried that and immediately got a small weeper and new it by the "poke" I felt so I can at it sideways and that seemed to work okay. Then I went on to the chin area below the lip. Also trying to maintain my angle and got a few swipes downward and working my way down and bam, felt another poke. There is was a bleeder which would not stop for nothing so it cut my shave short! I grabbed the Wolfman and did a quick finish of the one pass so the shave was at least somewhat uniform with a pass done. It took a long time for the bleeder to stop, at least a few minutes or so and yeah I had the Steptic pencil on it too. Once I finally got to stop with cold water and a half of steptic stick, I see there is a small cut about an 1/8 inch or so there. I am really not sure how it happened though unless I was more worried about my angle then where the actual blade was at during this time!

Anyway my final thoughts are that I am unsure on the shavette as it seems too small to use and you really cant see the tiny bit of blade exposed. Also it seems like my hands get in the way of seeing the blade end almost like creating blind spots as my hands are between the eye sight and the blade end. I even tried the right hand cross on the left side of my face in efforts to eliminate the "blind spots" I speak of and it worked okay on my cheek areas towards my jaw line but IDK. I do know I will do some dry passes with it and see if I can figure some things out. I can see where a real straight is probably easier!

Thx. and sorry no pic today as I didnt get that far! :)

    Friday Morning Shave
    Razor:
    NT Vigour S1.5 (Futur Replica)
    Blade: Rapira Blue
    Brush: Vie-Long White Horse Hair
    Bowl: Touch Me
    Cream: Arko Sensitive
After Shave Balm: Yves Rocher Sensitive

I had a close shave except the neck area. I had better results with Gillette safety razors or amazing Yuma, but imho NT Vigour is an OK shaver with an aggressive behaviour.

I had probably the best shave all week so far. That vintage Colgate stick lathers like a maniac and does it ever smell nice. It leaves a good post-shave feeling also.
