Recovery and play with soap week! May 26, 2015 Prep - Hot shower and towel Brush - Vid Long 12705 Soap - Tabac Razor - EJ DE89L Blade - (2) Post - Alum, Aqua Velva Musk Changed up the soap and brush today. Went with the horse and Tabac. Love the scent of Tabac and it is very easy to lather. Great slick lather that allows for on the go touch ups. Two passes to a DFS...so close to BBS I want to call it but......oh what the heck. It's a BBS. I think that's the first baby on two passes I've found. Really can't say enough good things about the NOS Gillette Blue. Why did they ever stop making these? I know, I know, to market their evil carts. I may have to stock up while they're available. The sun came out her and the rain stopped for now....off to sell some iron......or fiberglass.....or whatever they make cars from these days.
It was my pleasure and I hope you can come to appreciate just how great a soap it is. You'll have a plethora of scents to choose from, regardless!
May 26, 2015 “Week Two Tuesday" 60 yo newbie’s intro to traditional shaving. (Week 2 AC*) Pre-Shower Prep: Lucky Tiger Lemon Cleansing Facial Cream Morning Hot Shower Prep: Pre-Shave Oil - The Art of Shaving Soap: Saponeria Artigiana Sapone da Barba Vegetale alla Mandorla Brush: Omega Pro 48 Razor: Gillette Tech “Fat Handle” Blade: Voskhod Mustache/Beard Trim: Schick Golden 500 Post-Shave Cream: Proraso (White) Green Tea & Oat After Shave: Proraso A/S Cream On Saturday I received my first vintage razor purchase - Gillette Tech "Fat Handle” I also received a PIF sample of Voskhod blades (thanks Neal!) This was my second straight shave with the new razor and blade. Skipped shaving yesterday so was able to better gauge whisker growth patterns and ‘feel’ the blade better than the first shave. I did the standard 3-pass: WTG, XTG and ATG. My focus must have been much better than the first time I used this blade / razor combo. Fantastic result. I haven’t been doing this long enough to claim BBS, CCS, DFS or differentiate between them - but this was simply a great shave. Better than any I can remember. Cheers, - RT *AC = After Carts
SOTD 05.26.2015 Prep: PSO, Hot shower Razor: Gillette NEW SC Blade: Polsilver Super Iridium (2) Brush: Omega 80080 Boar Brush Soap: Proraso White Post: Cold rinse, Alum, Styptic pencil, Proraso White ASB Good shave today and only needed 2 passes. Still had some bloodshed towards the end, but less than last time. I think I'm getting the hang of this razor.
Razor: Dubl Duck Goldedge 5/8 Round point 1947-52 Gillette Ball End Tech NDC (declared 1947) Birth Year Brush: Vintage Ever-Ready 675 badger Mug: Old Spice 1985 Cobalt Blue Cream: Jack Black cream Blade: Feather (2) Post shave: Thayers Cucumber WH, Jack Black Post Shave Gel, Old Spice original Shulton 20 laps on the strop after my last shave, keeping it sharp. Face lathered the Jack Black with the Badger, after hydrating my face real well, going for extra slickness. Getting better and a little closer with the round point. Working on getting under my upper lip, and I'm getting better. Left side of my neck is a breeze with my left hand but my right side is a challenge. I finished with my Tech and only needed 1/2 pass. Still working all the angles, but getting better. Nice cucumber smell with the WH, and then some soothing JB Gel. After cleanup some vintage OS. Y'all have a good one.
Tyr's Day: Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Deep Clean Gentle Scrub, TSD Jasmine Sambac preshave balm Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger Soap: Ginger's Garden Grapefruit Mint Razor: RazoRock Bamboozled RAKE OC Blade: Baili Super Blue (3) Passes: WTG, XTG (6, 7) Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma alum, Dickinson's WH, Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS splash Cologne: Burberry Brit by Burberry Well, that about does it for this Baili blade. Another two-days' worth of growth for it to mow, on the theory that it's worked reasonably well thus far, but the first pass was extremely tuggy and the second seemed to ignore half the hair. The Ginger's Garden soap lathered well, and I know the razor is sound, but the Baili was simply done. After 2 passes, my choices were settle for a SAS, or change blades and probably deal with 2 more passes. Laziness won, and I chose the former option.

2 Pass - 2 Picture - 2uesday Just a quick and easy two pass shave this Tuesday. I took the boys out to a nearby park, and decided to take a few shots outdoors. Loads of fun, and really challenges your creativity. Thanks for the inspiration @celestino and the other guys who change it up with outdoor pics. Have a good one gents.
Brush Focus: Day 26/30 Brush: WDC-2 (Grandfather's) (Whipped Dog Knot) High Mountain Badger 22/65, set in 15mm. Gillette - K-4 (1965) Slim Adjustable. (5). Gillette Platinum Blade (5) Soap: Razor-Rock XXX A/S: Captain's Choice-Sandalwood. Old Spice Coffee Mug.(soak brush) Once again a great brush. The High Mountain Badger knot in my Grandfather's handle is a pleasure to use. Retains water and builds an outstanding lather. Can't say enough about WDC-2 it is simply a great shave brush. I also used Captain's Choice, Sandalwood A/S for the first time and I was very happy with it. The Razor-Rock XXX is also new to me and it is definitely a soap I will continue to use. It was a BBS shave tonight. Three passes. Thanks to those members ere who have informed me about this soap and A/S.
