Bay Rum Bliss My first two passes on my face were at nine today and I feel great. I even did the first pass on my neck at nine as well. No drama. I dialed down to six for the last pass and four on my neck. I expected the aftershave to sting quite a bit, but it was all good. The Colonel quickly whipped up top quality lather over a thin layer of lime preshave butter. I like this razor better at higher settings... It seems to help me let the razor weight do the work more consistently. I used my favorite bay rum combination to produce this superb shave. Oh yes, I had a very nice shave this morning with the Frozen Tundra soap which is at the BRRRRRRRRRRR Level. It's one step milder than the Glacials, but I'd still rate it as a good face-freezer. The lather requires a bit of extra effort to get it going but it's well worth it. The skincare is magnificent.

5/28/15 Prep: warm wash Lather: IanS artisan puck Brush: Omega 6214 silvertip Razor: Gillette New LC Blade: Rapira Lux (1) Post: Captain's Choice Cat O'Nine Tails and Ogallala Bay Rum cologne Best shave of the week so far! The Omega provided a great tool for face lathering this vintageish puck of hobbyist made soap. 2 full passes and a little touch up on the chin and neck and all is well. I splashed on the CC Cat and then was inspired for a bit more bay rum and added the double strength Ogallala cologne. I smell pretty good, if I do say so myself.
As of today Pre de Provence (PDP) is no longer in my regular rotation. Of all the French soaps I have tried, this is the bottom of the barrel for me when it comes to slickness and cushioning. I have added Cella to the PDP in an attempt to help the cushioning. While it did help, it was not enough to overcome what I view as inherent weaknesses in PDP. So, after several months of trying to make PDP work for me, I am relegating it to the upper shelf for use when I want to make a mixture. 3 passes and a CCS for today. PDP Rapira Stainless slim adjustable
Recovery and play with soap week! May 28, 2015 Prep - Hot shower and towel Brush - VDH Brush Soap - Saint Charles Shave Sandalwood Razor - RazoRock TTO Blade - (1) Post - Alum, Nivea Post Shave Balm A mixed bag today. Changed to the VDH boar to work with the Saint Charles more. Happy to say that a much wetter brush and the short loft helped produce a very decent lather. Nice and slick. Maybe not as much cushion as some but still a very nice lather. I suspect a little more work will produce even better results now that I know which direction to take it. Loaded up a Lord Platinum and that was a mistake. My first time to use this blade and it has a good reputation. Not with me, however. Didn't feel bad but man did it produce some blood. Noticed a very small nick on the right cheek during the first pass, then another one on the left cheek. Hey wait....there's another one under my chin. Lathered up for the second pass and went XTG as usual and all that really did was produce some nice weepers along both sides of my neck. Horrible, just horrible. I could feel the irritation before even putting the razor down. Alum and cold water cleared up the nicks and weepers and the Nivea helped calm down the absolute fire the alum produced. After all that I can only claim a CCS as I refused the third pass. You would think I designed that shave to be bad. Some of my bad gear shaves were better than this. DONE with the Lord Plat. Happy Thursday.
05/28/2015 Razor – Mongoose B2 with Jürgen Hempel Ti Blade – Feather Super Pro (13) Brush – Rudy Vey with TGN Finest Lather – Strop Shoppe Baker Street Post - Witch Hazel and Myrsol Antesol Sample Today was the 13th shave with this Super blade. Unlike DE blades there is really no tugging etc as the blade nears the end but it just requires more effort to get the same results. Accordingly today's shave required 3 passes to end up with a near BBS shave. Going to try to get one more shave out of this blade tomorrow. No irritation, nicks or weepers. The SS Baker Street was very easy to lather. I really enjoy the scent of this soap. Finished off with a splash of Myrsol Antesol from the sample pack.

Hey @Bobcat, how does the FatBoy compare to the Slim? Don't know if I should continue the chase if they are pretty much the same. Awesome brush BTW! Looks like it would cool a glass of Bourbon if you dropped it in there!

I am really liking the size and weight of the Fatboy. I am also getting a bit better shaves than from my Slim. Both will be in the rotation, but the FB wins with me by an edge. Your search continues...............
5/28/15 - GEM Micromatic!!! Not the best shave. It was either the razor or the blade, but it was jumpy and wouldn't cut. Had to pull out the Type G Injector to finish the job.
