Prep - Shower / Pre-lather / 3 min steam towel Razor - Gillette Slim Adjustable @ 9 Blade - Gillette 7 O'Clock SharpEdge Yellow (#4) Brush - Omega 10810 Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat After - Frozen towel / Alum & WH Mix Result - BBS + Finally got around to getting Mitchell's Wool Fat, and I have one major question - what is all the fuss about this being difficult to lather? I found it easier than Arko! I need a new abbreviation for my results, as I feel BBS (excuse the pun) just isn't cutting it. BBS to me is smooth all over, no stubble to feel. In a 10x mirror, I'll still see stubble. The results I achieved tonight can't be seen in the mirror, and consequently I won't feel stubble until tomorrow evening. The 7 O'Clock SharpEdge Yellow continues to impress me. I thought 9 on the Slim might prove too aggressive but no, still got an amazing shave.

Tuesday morning's planned shave: Neutrogena Men Facial Wash Large Horsehair Barbershop Super Speed/Derby day 2 Iced Subzero SS Gold Bond Moisturizer Alt Innsbruck AS How can I ever forget JoAnna's gold medal-winning ISZ soap? Never. It's so awesome - the rich, easy-to-create lather, the nice mentholy/peppermint scent, and the great cooling sensation it gives me together with plenty of soothing post-shave care. The Gold Bond moisturizer, along with the Alt Innsbruck aftershave which I just received today will keep my face feeling chilled and fresh for hours after my shave. The Derby blades have excellent longevity, and they're also quite forgiving and smooth.
SOTD 6-1-15 MENTHOL MONDAY!! RAZOR: 1953 GILLETTE TECH BLADE: BIG BEN (SHAVE NUMBER 4) BRUSH: OMEGA S SYNTHETIC SOAP: TSD ICED HAVOC (AQUA VELVA) WITH EXTRA MENTHOL CRYSTALS ADDED POST: CVS BRAND AQUA VELVA My menthol crystals arrived today so I had to mix them into my already iced soap and it turned out great! I have recently started cold water shaving and I think it has cut down on irritation so I will run with it for a while and see how it goes. 3 pass shave with BBS results. great menthol Monday and a great shave!
No my friend, it's the one in an orange bottle. It has no scent to speak of, and it's VERY mentholated.

SOTD 6-1-15 PRESHAVE: Face wash with soap and warm/hot water RAZOR: Wolfman WR1-DC Polished (dual comb) with Bamboo handle BLADE: Gillette Silver Blue (5) SOAP: Catie's Bubbles Mile High Menthol BOWL: VDH BRUSH: Tweezerman Badger POST: Rinse with warm/hot water to get soap off and then some cold water rinses/splashes and pat try. Comments: I used the OC side on the first two passes, then the SB side for the touchup and I got a DFS/BBS shave. Just another great Wolfman shave! Soap was very good too! First time trying out this one! It made a nice slick lather, the protection and feel throughout the shave was very good. The menthol was good but I have others that I like the menthol more so this one didnt stand out in that regard! The blade still felt sharp for today's shave and it is quite possible to get another day, maybe two out of it but after 5 days of use, I will change it out and not push my luck on a 20 cent blade! I feel absolutely no irritation at all and one small weepers. A great shave for me! Please feel free to leave comments on any items us ed as I enjoy reading them to see what others say about the gear I am using/trying out! Of course, YMMV! Thx.

I tried the one in the green bottle only once. My wife likes the scent of it but I don't. It also doesn't seem to be as soothing as the one in the orange bottle which I use.

World Tournament of Blades - Russia vs. the World!! June 1, 2015 Prep - Hot shower and towel Brush - Vie-Long 12705 Horse Soap - Tabac Razor - '46 Aristocrat Blade - (1) Post - Alum, The Veg Welcome Comrades to the first annual World Tournament of Blades!!! Russia takes on the world for double edge blade supremacy! As with all great tournaments let us begin with the singing of glorious national anthem! And on to the tournament!! The first bracket - the number one seeded and most glorious Voskhod!! This Teflon coated engineering marvel goes against another Russian great - The Rapira Swedish Supersteel. Up today to start us off is the Voskhod. I chose the Vie-Long 12705 for the brush for this matchup along with Tabac soap. The brush and soap did not disappoint. Tabac is a recent addition to my den and a permanent one. Great lather, great scent and the soft yet scritchy feel of the 12705 with its 35% mane to 65% tail hair is perfect. The Voskhod went two passes to produce a very nice DFS. The blade is sharp...among the sharpest. I graded that a 1. It is so smooth in the Aristocrat it has to have a 1 there and I felt no irritation during the shave and alum was very quiet for a 1. The result? DFS for a 2. That is a total of 5 for the mighty Voskhod! Tomorrow the Swedish has its turn to see who advances to the Elite Eight! Hope everyone's June is off to a great start! And the games continue!!!
