Great looking set up. I really like the looks of that Straight Razor

  2. It's a Parker SR1 barber razor. Got it from @Lyndon's generous PIF.
  3. I have to some what agree with your statement. Williams Shaving Soap is a good soap but there is a learning curve as to how to get it to lather good. One day it's runny the next day it seems to not have enough water. Just add water very gradually and you will get a great lather.

  7. Hi Friends,

I just endet a joyful end very relaxed shave:

    Razor: Merkur Progress
    Blade: Astra SP
    Soap: PannaCrema Vetiver
    Brush: Vulfix Grosvenor
Aftershave: Extro Antica Acqua di Colonia Italiana

Heavenly!!! I love the scent of the PannaCrema Vetiver deeply. What me impressed most, was the Aftershave. The scent and the Skin feel after the shave was outstanding. Absolutely wonderful!!!

A picture will follow later today. Now i will enjoy the Sun together with my Girlfriend.

Have a great time and even better shaves. Take care.

    Greetings
    Thorsten
  8. I'm am really enjoying the handle. Great looks, secure grip and the workmanship is fantastic.
  9. Patrick, thanks so much. While my back is not perfect, it is much better than earlier in the week.
  10. Sunday Best
I used my favorite soap/AS combo today as we prepare for membership class at church. I also used Gillette 7 o'clock yellow blades in the Fatboy for the second time. I got a very close shave, but a couple weepers this time. I think theses blades are a little less forgiving than Voskhod or Personna blues for me. Either way my face feels good and and comfortable.
    Prep: Mickey Lee Lime
    Soap: B&M Rhapsody
    Brush: Simpson The Colonel
    Razor: 1959 Gillette Fatboy
    Blade: Gillette 7 o'clock yellow (2)
    AS: B&M Cologne Russe

  12. My face feels like it has a built-in air conditioner thanks to the Glacial Wintergreen soap, a/s balm, and witch hazel. The shave itself was great and very enjoyable but there's no way that the Derby blade could give me any more performance after today, so I'll change it.
  13. Sunday:

Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Deep Clean Gentle Scrub, TSD Jasmine Sambac preshave balm
    Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger
    Soap: Stirling Glacial Obsidian
    Razor: RazoRock Bamboozled RAKE OC
    Blade: Bic (4)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, XTG (10, 11, 12)
Post: Cold water splash, Dickinson's WH, Pinaud Clubman AS splash
Cologne: Jasmin et Cigarette by Etat Libre d' Orange

The lather was much better and more stable today, so I think I may be improving, though it's still a much longer and fiddlier process than with other products in my den. The Bic started to show its age in terms of scraping a bit, though the lather and the Bic's general temperament combined to prevent any nicks or weepers on all 3 passes; I'll have a new blade in for tomorrow. I'd call the results DFS+.
  14. A combination of MDC Lavender, TOBS Rose, and a few extra drops of essential rose oil made for a very floral Sunday shave. After 3 passes, with everything going so well, I decided to take a 4th pass. I was rewarded with the closest, most consistent, and irritation free shave that I have had in about 2 weeks. This may well have been one of the top 10 shaves of my life.

  15. Wow, it's so much a case of YMMV. My Glacial Obsidian soap lathers with an explosion - it's unreal. However, it could also be because it's from a good batch.

  16. 6/07/15 A Month of Proraso!!!

A great shave with the SE. Last day using Proraso Green this month. It's been a good one. Like the feel of the menthol and the scent reminds me of playing behind my Grandmother's house as a kid. Good good stuff!!!

Razor – Gillette Red & Black New Deluxe
    Blade – Feather (3)
Brush – Olivewood with TGN Finest Fan
    Lather – Mystic Water Lavender
    Post - Witch Hazel & Myrsol F/Extra

Fantastic 3 pass BBS shave this morning. This is only my second time using this razor. It might be just a touch more efficient than the New LC but just as smooth. The Mystic Water Lavender lathered up great and really slick. Even after 3 pass, there was enough lather left in the brush for 2 more. Finished off with Myrsol F/Extra.
  18. That razor is on my list to get. Looks great. Wonder if it's as aggressive as the New Improved, but smoother.

  20. I've never used a New Improved so I am not sure. I can tell already, that I am really going to like this razor.
