In a blue mood this morning.
I got a puck of Oxford & Cambridge last Christmas and I put it in an Eton College tub that I had removed the labeling from. What a soap.
So that with my blue M&F L7 Blonde Badger brush, birth year and quarter Gillette Blue Tip SuperSpeed, A Gillette 7 O'Clock Russian Super Platinum, and even finished with my sample of Floid Blue aftershave. I go four passes instead of three when I use the Blue Tip and get a DFS. It's more about the mood and aesthetics guys. A good way to slide into the weekend. Hope everyone is well and happy.

PRESHAVE: Face wash with soap and warm/hot water
RAZOR: iKon Deluxe closed comb with Bulldog handle
    BLADE: Astra SP (new)
    SOAP: Proraso Blue Tube
    BOWL: Stainless steel
    BRUSH: Perfecto Badger
POST: Rinse with warm/hot water to get soap off and then some cold water rinses/splashes and pat try.

Comments: The shave today was great! I started out with a two day growth as I didnt shave yesterday. The razor is more aggressive than the OSS model and took care of the two day growth like nothing and very smooth. This the first time using this iKon Deluxe razor and I like it alot. I like the fact that it is more aggressive than the OSS model and very smooth too! The Proraso blue cream was great and also my first time using it. It gave me a great lather with very good protection! No irritation or weepers! I ended up with a DFS in two passes and some minor touch up. I almost got a complete BBS except for one little spot on the neck area that I missed during my touchup so my fault! No complaints today at all!

Please feel free to leave comments on any items used as I enjoy reading them to see what others say about the gear I am using/trying out! Of course, YMMV!

    Thx.

Back to my old reliable, which is my 1950's Super Speed. This DE is definitely the best one for me because of its mildness and ease of use. With the Frozen Tundra soap, you get pretty close to the Glacial menthol power - oh yeah, this stuff is quite intense and I love everything about it from the unique, ice-cold scent which it has to the gentle, soothing post-shave feeling it gives me every time I use it. The Gold Bond is in a class by itself, not to mention the Penguin. I'm looking to get some more Derby blades because I really like them. They're absolutely fantastic. ;) :D

A great weekend to everyone in advance! :)

It's a winner. Not sure what I am going to do when it's gone...:angry017: Actually, I think I'll be ok. I have a puck of MWF that I have been curing in a vacuum seal bag with an ounce of Captain Black pipe tobacco. The opening and first shave (after the 90 day cure) will be tobacco Tuesday, July 7. Here are some pictures chronicling the preparation.

    Ladas Super Stainless

    Thayers Rose Petal WH

The Mitchell's Wool Fat Shave Soap face-lathered well with my Olivewood WD Silvertip Badger brush. Two passes with my Gillette Red Tip SuperSpeed razor and a Ladas Super Stainless blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Rose Petal WH and then Pinaud Clubman after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Wow, you will have to report back how it worked out for you. Did you add any moisture to the pouch B4 sealing? I see you are another Pipe & Cigar fan. My go to tobacco shop.

    TGIF Planned SOTD

    Razor: PILS 101NE
    Blade: Personna 74 (D1)
Brush: Paladin PK-47 26mm Blonde Badger
    Bowl: Symmetrical Sheet Metal
    Pre Shave Scrub: RazoRock GLO
Pre Shave Oil: Homemade Lemon Lime Chill
    Shave Cream: Antica Barbieria Colla
    Post: Monster Alum Block
    Aftershave: Floid SE Mentolado Vigoroso

My Paladin Pk-47 arrived today and cant wait to put it use tomorrow morning. I really like the feel of this handle in my hands and I compared this 26mm Blonde Badger with my M&F 26mm Blonde Badger and they look the same but since this one has not touched water yet it is a little stiff. The Marbled Butterscotch looks better in person than what the picture shows. Also on tap for its initial voyage is a Personna 74 courtesy of @JR Reyes in a trade conducted two months ago. Now I get the chance to see first hand if this blade lives up to all the hype like the Spoiler blades, which for me did live up to all the hype.

    BRUSH: EVEREADY 100T
    BLADE: LORD (2 USE)
    LATHER: T&H 1805
    BOWL: VDH
    POST: MASTERS BAY RUM (MENTHOLATED)

I noticed that a store not far from me has a small stock of wet shaving supplies so I picked up the T&H 1805. I have heard good things about it and the best way I can describe the scent would be like a nice modern cologne. great shave. 3 pass BBS. the menthol crystals in the bay rum add a nice touch of menthol. hope everyone has a great shave!

World Tournament of Blades - Russia vs. the World!!
    June 11, 2015
Prep - Hot shower and towel
    Brush - Omega Pro 48
    Soap - MWF
    Razor - Razo Rock TTO
    Blade - [IMG] (1)
    Post - Alum, Nivea Balm

Well after yesterday's surprising bad performance by the Kai we go to India for a challenger. The Super-Max Platinum by Vidyut Metallics. This is a platinum I like, as the Indian plats seem better for me than the St. Petersburg blades. Still the Pro 48 and the Fat so here we go.

Got a GREAT lather out of the MWF today. Best so far as I soaked the puck a bit longer and shook the brush a couple of extra times. Really got the brush loaded and the face lather was magnificent. Yep, thanks to @Bama Samurai I have a new top three soap if not number one! Had the Super Max loaded in the RRTTO and off we went. First observation, this is not a level 1 sharp blade. It's nice, it gets it done, but it's no Kai on sharpness which may not be a bad thing with this razor. First pass was a bit rough, not horribly so but enough to take a notch off for smoothness but it felt good as far as irritation went. Lathered again and went XTG. About as smooth as the first pass but I picked up a nick on my left jawline. That doesn't help. Neck was beginning to feel a bit rough after the pass so I did a quick cleanup on a couple of areas and stopped. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I actually STOPPED BEFORE doing any more damage. I had already decided that the sharpness was a 2. Again, sharp, but not on the same level as some. But, definitely up there. Smoothness....this one stumped me a bit but I decided due to the nick I had to dock it a point. It would have been a 2 but it became a 3. Irritation? This one surprised me because I felt it was going to be horrible. Nope, not so. Actually a very quiet alum pass. Even the nick wasn't too bad by the time I hit it with cold water. So, a 2. The finish? This one was tough. In fact, I was again happy I had little time to post so I could have the day to think about it and check it. I thought CCS at first given how it originally felt. After it settled a bit, though I decided it was better than that and by the feel of it tonight it had to be a DFS, if only slightly. I docked the nick onto the smoothness and not the finish, just to be clear. DFS is a 2.

    Total - 9.

The winner of the round is the SUPER-MAX PLATINUM!!!

Am I surprised, yes. However, after yesterday not as much as I would have been. The Kai really under performed. Now, I think part of the blame falls on me for poor choice of razor for the matchup. However, I can't put it all on that as there wasn't a huge difference. A one point win is as close as it gets so both blades suffered the effects of my choice to an extent.

New round tomorrow. We go to Greece with the Bic Chrome Platinum. It's opponent, the Indian Super-Max Super Platinum. It's two great cuisines and cultures battling it out for the right to battle the SM Platinum.
Bring your friends...get here anyway you can as we move on to the next round.
