    I'll try to get one later this week, it's the lighting in the morning is not conducive to a good pic.

    Bleeding is part of the learning process, I'll remember not to do that again.

    Prep
    : Face washer
    Brush: Omega 48
    Preshave: Stirling Orange Chill Preshave oil
    Soap: Stirling Orange Chill Soap
    Razor: Lakeside round point 5/8 whipped dog special
    Growth: 2 day
    Post: Cold water splash, Stirling Orange Chill AS, Alum
    Passes: WTG, XTG, DE Clean up

    Citrus Sunday? Went Orange Chill today - wanted to smell like orange today for my daughter! Couldn't remember if I had used this new to me razor yet so I passed on the stropping this morning (first mistake) - I noticed that the honing from person to person can vary - who knew? I have been getting a more comfortable shave from Glen's honing than my whipped dogs. First pass was a bit pulling but the XTG pass cleaned me up pretty good. I decided not to push the chase the bbs with the straight today and just get a dfs with the DE clean up. Looking forward to getting my new strop in from @Drygulch this week.

    Prep - Hot shower and towel
    Brush - Omega Pro 48
    Soap - Arko
    Razor - '59 Superspeed
    Blade - [IMG] (1)
    Post - Alum, Nivea Balm

    Next round....the Treet Platinum is up first. A familiar blade from Pakistan it is a stainless steel blade from a manufacturer who continues to make a number of carbon blades. Since I had used this blade before (and since the Lord Platinum was HORRIBLE when I tried it), I substituted it in after making the bracket. I remember it as being a pretty good blade and a number of people use it regularly across the various forums.

    Gear for the day - the 1959 Superspeed...yes I grabbed the right one this time....and Arko with the Pro 48. Shouldn't be a problem getting lather or a shave. And, as usual, the Arko and 48 produced a great lather in a hurry. Here we go. First pass was quite comfortable and effective. Blade is sharp but again not over the top sharp. Smooth feel to it and overall a very nice pass. Lathered up for the second pass and went XTG. Again good results, smooth feel, no real issues. Went for a final neck pass and found it comfortable even in a Gillette Slide. I did notice feeling some irritation by the time I finished. Result was a DFS. The alum, well it let me know that I had shaved. Like almost all Platinum blades this one left me a bit burned by the alum. Not the worst though.

    Scoring - Sharpness I have to give it a 1. I know a lot of my blades have had a 1 but I'm not grading a 1 as Feather sharp, just a sharp enough blade to get a really good first pass and quick reduction on the second. This one has it. Smoothness, again a 1. Nice feel. Irritation...definitely some there so a 2. Can't ignore the alum. And result? DFS so a 2.

    Total - 6. Not bad at all, but not in the top tier so far. Tomorrow we throw the USA into the fray with the Personna Lab Blue!

    I wanted to end with a funny meme for Pakistan but found a problem. The same problem when I looked for one for Greece with the Bic. None of them are really funny. Either that or I don't know enough about the country to understand what is funny about them. So, I leave you with this........

    Shave #5
    Shaver = Dovo Astrale 5/8 RP
    Soap = King R. Emporium shave stick
    Brush = VDH Boar
    Alum = Osama for skin stretching
    Witch Hazel
    Aloe
    AS = Himalayan bay rum
    ASB = dove

    Another fine shave today very little irritation Nicks 2 left earlobe right lower neck. Ice cold water and alum eventually sealed the nicks.

    Now that the shave has been honed I am becoming to enjoy the shave with this blade. Today I only stroped the blade before and after the shave.That Illinois #127 strop does a bang up job maintaining the edge.

    I have been stretching my skin more on my face and neck, so much as a matter of fact I gave myself a face lift hahaha. Take care

    Mine is sort of a frankentechnew. The cap is a bit different than any others I've owned.

    The New LC is the one on the right. The cap has that little "crimp" in the middle.

    Plus, it has a fat tech handle as well.

    Razor: Gillette Flare Tip D2 1958
    Blade: Gillette, Platinum (3)
    Brush: Semogue 1305 Boar Tri Colored Wood Handle.
    Soap: TSD Coconut
    Mug: Soak my brush in the Old Spice coffee mug for about a minute.
    A/S: TSD Coconut

    Added to much water today, sort of over compensated for my lack of water with the boar brush a few days ago. I used a different soap and that could have added to the water over load. TSD Coconut soap is an excellent shave soap and TSD A/S Coconut is a great finish. DFS
    Missed yesterday post as I attended my grand daughters dance recital. It was great.

    Today's shave was a 3-pass as I skipped shaving yesterday (first skipped day in over a month) and had a 2 day growth to address. Extremely close, smooth shave.

    Early on in my intro to DE shaving, I learned to listen to the blade making contact as it cut through whiskers. Today I sometimes felt as though the blade was cutting, but could hardly hear a sound. A quick check of the pass and found the blade had performed well.

    Shaves keep improving!

    Cheers!

    You should look into it. ;)

    When it feels good and is over before you know it...you are really getting somewhere! This is the kind of shave you will mostly be experiencing now! :happy088:

    30 Day Rule with a Cadet OC!

    image.jpg
    Day three on this blade brought a smooth close shave, albeit with a couple mild weepers. No real issues with this shave, just blade past its prime. I am still on my TSD ISZ kick, topped off with some Barbon. I was able to get everything calmed down with the alum and face is feeling great 90 minutes post shave! The only thing I experimented with today was that u used straight buffing strokes on pass one on the chin. It gave me a great shave on a difficult area. Other than that...it's about to rain in Colorado (again)!

    Have a great night and a sterling Monday!

    For you Sir, why not both?

    If I were to be granted an indulgence by the 30 Day Crew, I would likely use Stirling Glacial Obsidian and Osage tomorrow...
