Wednesday's Dove Men Face Wash Van Der Hagen Luxury Shave Soap Semogue 1800 Boar Gillette Black Handle SS Gillette Rubie Platinum Plus CWR, Asma Alum Block Thayers Lemon WH Pinaud Clubman The Van Der Hagen Luxury Shave Soap face-lathered well with my Semogue 1800 Boar brush. Two passes with my Gillette Black Handle SS razor and a Gillette Rubie Platinum Plus blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Pinaud Clubman after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
Wednesday morning: I need a much colder shave than I had today so here's my planned set-up: Neutrogena Men Facial Wash Large Horsehair Barbershop Goodfella/new Derby Chiseled Face Cryogen SS Gold Bond Moisturizer Osage Rub AS Chabrawichi 555 Cologne It's been some time since I used my Cryogen soap, (maybe I should call it a cream) so what the heck - that's my choice for this shave. It's the coldest soap on the market at the present time but in all honesty the new Glacials are close behind it in menthol power. I wish it had a real scent, but the freakish menthol amount doesn't allow that. It lathers well, but some effort is still needed. Skincare wise, it's pretty good. The Goodfella is a very mild DE - even milder than my Super Speed, but it gives close enough shaves. The Rubby Dubby Doo is poised to complete the intense freeze for me.

what emblem is on the base of that brush? does it have a meaning? why did you choose it in lieu of a coin, like the others you've made?
No meaning. The "coins" on other brushes are actually conchos. http://www.conchos.com As to the disc ... http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/blonde-boar.45521/#post-847117
thanks, after I posted. I went back and read. looks nice. I've thought about using some of the half dollars that I've dug from the ground( metal detecting is one of my other hobbies). I like the base plates.
Better to work with than coins except that they are curved so you have to work them correctly if you want them to stand on the base.
SOTD 6-16-15 PRESHAVE: Face wash with soap and warm/hot water RAZOR: ATT H1 with Bulldog handle BLADE: Platinum Lux (3) STRAIGHT: Gold Dollar SS SOAP: Mama's Bear Dragon Blood BOWL: VDH BRUSH: Perfecto Badger POST: Rinse with warm/hot water to get soap off and then some cold water rinses/splashes and pat try. Comments: The shave today was very good! I started out with the GD on most of my face areas to get a feel for it again. It worked pretty well but seem to take awhile to get the areas cut down! I used it for about a pass and a half as I am trying to get used to it. After that I broke out the ATT H1 plate which took care of the beard growth without any problem. This is the first time using this soap as it was just given to me and I received it the other day! I will say it is pretty good soap and I had no issues with the scent (which I cant quite pinpoint) or any burning and no issues with the lather, protection, slickness and even the post feel is real good! I managed to get my DFS with only slight irritation in one spot and I think that was from the straight but no weepers! Please feel free to leave comments on any items used as I enjoy reading them to see what others say about the gear I am using/trying out! Of course, YMMV! Thx.
I thought that too, but it really grew on me. I have never used it to prepare a bowl of lather, always shave stick or load and face lather.
Day 15 - 16 May 2015 30 Day Rule Focus with a Cadet OC! Put in a fresh blade and decided to try something new today. I used Williams as if it were a shave stick...and it was the best lather and best skinfeel yet. If you bowl lathered Williams before and were disappointed, try it and "rub the puck on your face" (h/t @CyanideMetal ). You may be surprised! I went the standard 2 pass for DFS. I have really gotten the hang of this OC razor, and wow does it shave close! I didn't actually use the balm today, I changed the plan after I snapped the photo. Kept in simple on the finish, just a little alum and back to one of my faves--The Veg. Smooth, clean and fresh as a Hungarian Cavalry Officer in Napoleon's time. After decanting the Veg awhile back, I love it even more now. Other than that...still raining in Colorado! Have a great Wednesday!

I use it also in my rotation, usually on the week ends. It's great Shaving Soap, and Cheap too. I probably have enough to last until after the Presidential Inauguration day in 2021 and then some.
