From Spring to Fall Portland has a monthly event called Sunday Parkways. Each month they shut down a section of the city from car traffic and open it up for walking and bikes only. Today was the one for June and I had a good time riding down streets I otherwise couldn't and seeing neighborhoods I normally don't. The route was supposed to be 9.5 miles, but somehow I ended with 10.23 miles.
I'm watching "How it's Made" on the Science Channel right now. They are doing a segment on how DE blades are made. The brand they showed was Croma.
Well today wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be. First day back at work after a 2 week lay off and besides waking up at 330 in the morning I had a pretty good day
weekend kinda suck-y (firstworldproblems) - wife's Acadia got rained on again (I hate sunroofs), and thus, everything craps out in it again. Disconnected battery, let it dry a couple days, working okay again. Thinking about caulking/siliconing the sunroof and pulling the fuse....seriously. Also thought about maybe of one those big car magnets, large enough to cover said sunroof. Either way, major PITA. My biggest frustration about it has been GM's response to the widespread issue, across the Buick, GMC, Chevy, and Saturn vehicles of that model - basically, nothing. It's an 08, so waaaaay out of warranty, but researching online about it lead me to lots of folks, with multiple visits, inside the warranty timeframe, and no recalls or anything on it. Just, uggh. Also, motor went out on the Intex spa/hot tub. Doesn't bother me, I can't hardly handle those things, but wife is bugged about it. Gotta find the receipt so I can call and be on hold another 30 minutes. In other, less carppy news....while working on said Acadia, disconnecting/recharging/reconnecting battery (not that it needed charging, but the vehicle thought it did), I had my 14 year old sitting the driver seat, trying to crank it every once in a while. Once it finally started, I gave her a shock she never expected - I had her back it out of the garage, and turn it around in the driveway....talk about a stoked young lady! All went well on that, so it brightened up my weekend some for the smile on her face.
I just had a great start to Austerity Summer 2015. I just made $500 in eBay sales. That'll payoff a credit card. Yesssss.
