Well in your picture the razor looks gold to me. Which is a good indicator of it being a Milord although I'm not sure it's a definitive one. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable could help.
I got this stuff today. it used to be my grandpas. he gave my mom a box of stuff a few months ago and I stumbled upon it today and found a NOS tube of brylcreem and a full 4oz tin of A Gentleman's Talc.
Brylcreem! "A little dab will do you" was part of the jingle. Unbelievable? It's back. A classic since 1928, the ad claims. I used it in the early 60s for the Dry Look. I might have to grab a tube.
Not shave related but today I found an old aluminum Ovaltine shaker, probably from the 1950s, for 75¢. Nice size, just like these. I guess I'll have to find a use for it.
The Milord is the same razor as a 1940 series Super Speed except it came in gold tone. Here are both from the same year.
Why not use it for Ovaltine? I hated the stuff back when I was a child. My parents always tried to get me to drink it warm. I love it now...added to cold milk.
Nice! I also have one of the Gillettes with stars. I guess that would make sense now being marketed as a woman's razor. I too found it to be a rather aggressive razor, and my results were not so good.
I remember reading somewhere that the the Gillette Lady Gillette razors used the same head as the regular super speeds. (Edit: confirmed. http://wiki.badgerandblade.com/Gillette_Lady_Gillette) Visually, they look identical. I've found the shave to be very similar.
