Thursday, July 2, 2015 Mongoose Shave #8 Shower, Mystic Water Soap - Yemaya, Neutrogena Face Scrub B-3 Mongoose with Jurgen Hempel SS Feather Professional #1 Paladin Strawberry Amber Chief MDC Le Bol En Bois – Fougere Alum Block, Dickinson’s +Menthol, Unrefined Shea Butter Chiseled Face Aftershave – Ghost Town Barber I changed blades today. The Kai CT Mild lasted for 7 shaves and was excellent until the end. Had there not been a desire to try the other blades in the Try-A-Blade Sample Pack, I might have been able to squeeze another shave or two out of it. The second blade, Feather Professional was sharper than the Kai blade. On the first pass I used a combination of ATG and XTG. This appeared to eliminate the need for a complete second pass, just clean up. The Alum and Black Ice Witch Hazel affirmed the closeness of the shave. However, there were some missed spots. My thinking, a complete second pass with clean up might have eliminated any missed spots. SO a mostly BBS shave today. The Palidin SA Brush is an outstanding face lathering brush. The MDC lather is totally spoiling me. My brush had enough lather for 4 passes. Ended the shave with a generous splashing of Ghost Town Barber AS. The perfect SW Desert Scent. My wife requested the Stirling Black Ice Witch Hazel. She says it makes me smell like “The Good and Plenty Man”.
About 3 days since last shave... •1st pass: LC New w/Wilkinson Sword Edge blade (retired after 1st pass) •2nd pass: Slim (4) with new Big Ben blade •L'Occitaine verbena hand soap from the hotel over vacation, face lathered. 2 pass BBS. I could use a verbena soap regularly. Really nice scent. Follow up: some old vetiver a/s that seems to go well with it. Nah, just kidding: BRUT!
Looks like you are truly enjoying the Goose. You're right the Feather Pro is much sharper than the Kai Mild.

SOTD 7-2-15 PREP: MUSGO REAL ORANGE AMBER RAZOR: GILLETTE BALL END TECH BLADE: LORD (1ST USE) BOWL: VDH BRUSH: FINE ANGEL HAIR SYNTHETIC SOAP: TSD ICED HAVOC WITH EXTRA MANTHOL CRYSTALS ADDED POST: STEPHANS ISLAND LIME MENTHOLATED What an awesome shave today!! 3 pass with some touch ups to get BBS. This was my first time trying the brush and razor. I picked them up during last months focus so I waited to try them. the brush is super soft but has great backbone. this razor is much lighter than the Maggard 18c I used all last month so it took some getting used to. The TSD soaps are one of my favorites as I always seem to get a great shave when I use them. They whip up a great lather with no problem and can take quite a bit of water and still provide cushion and slickness. The Island Lime has been is another great product that will stay in my den for years to come. Hope everyone has a great shave!! stay frosty my friends.
July 2, 2015 SOTD “Independence Day” (from my 30-Day Rule) 60 yo newbie’s intro to traditional shaving. (Week 8) Morning Hot Shower Pre-Shave Oil: Ginger’s Garden Soap: TSD Iced Sensitive Brush: Omega Pro 48 Razor: Gillette Gold Tech “Fat Handle” Blade: Wilkinson Sword Stainless Aftershave: Myrsol Agua De Limon Recently released from my June 30-day Rule regimen focusing just on DE technique, I’m free and independent for the July 4 weekend to try a few new shaving products I’ve accumulated during the Rule! After a month of Arko, which worked very well and consistently for me, I’m stepping out gingerly with my sensitive skin to try some new soaps. First up - TSD soap (Iced Sensitive) for a little menthol kick. My skin loved it, great lather! Also used a new Wilkinson blade I picked up through Canada (don’t know if this blade is from the same plant in India that does the Gillette Wilkinson blade which I used during the Rule???). It seemed similar - sharp and mostly quiet on the WTG. Noisy feedback, yet ok smooth on the 2nd pass ATG. Topped off with the Myrsol Limon that I had sampled last month - love the freshest lemon scent! Really learned some good DE technique the last 30 days. Going back next week for a 30-day Focus on different blades and more technique work. Cheers! - RT
Happened to me. I didn't use them for 6 months and had no problems just great shaves. Except today but that was totally my fault.
Thursdays shave Used the same setup as yesterday as that shave went so well. Today's didn't go as well as I rushed it, with a feather blade. Not the best idea. Razor - R41 Blade - Feather Lather - I Coloniali Soap Brush - Pilsson synthetic Pre shave - Edwin Jagger hydrating pre shave lotion Aftershave - Nivea Sensitive balm
Friday morning: Neutrogena Men Facial Wash Large Horsehair Barbershop Super Speed/Derby day 3 Stirling Glacial Wintergreen SS Stirling Glacial Wintergreen AS Balm Stirling Glacial Wintergreen WH Old Spice Cologne Today's shave was damned cold - it's true that the Palmolive Menthol cream delivers a strong chill, but it feels warm if you try to compare it to the Glacial Wintergreen soap. The matching balm and witch hazel can out-freeze the Rubby Dubby Doo any day of the week. I've really taken a liking towards the Old Spice cologne - it's the original Shulton version. A great weekend to everyone in advance.
Razor: Gillette Blue Tip SS Blade: Feather (1) Brush: Every Ready 100T, Boar Soap: Knock Out Shave Cool Blue A/S: Lucky Tiger Great three pass shave tonight. Lucky Tiger is my go to A/S.
6/8 OVB, Hibbard, Spencer & Barlett Acca Kappa homemade box elder burl 2 band Nice shave today. I went straight off the stones to my face with this shave, no stropping. It wasn't intentional, I honed it in the evening and was going to strop before my morning shave but was half done with the shave when I realized I had forgot to strop so I just went with it. I do like this blade it develops a nice tacky edge. Have a good one.

Welcome to SOTD! Like @Boojum1 said, we all repurpose containers. I won't ignore it, it makes you seem clever and utilitarian, and I dig that!
