1. say again?
  2. I broke. I ordered some m-bomb menthol and sandalwood samples from the TSD shop, and left a donation while I was at it.
  3. donations are ok, they were part of our original nbj pledge.
    are the samples free?
  4. no but I have to do something .. I hear menthol is good for sensitive skin, nothing I've tried is working out.

Then again, my shave den inventory is as follows:

    2) DE razors
    1) SR
    2) back up SR (out for repair)
    2) brushes one for soap one for cream
    1) cream
    1) soap
    2) pre oils (one bought(nearly empty) one home made)
    2) A.S. balms scents to match soap and cream
    2) After shave splash (clubman original, and Old Spice)
    2) strops (one store bought and one hand made)
(and I think I have to cut back on spending)
  5. well your made it three days into your month long pledge not to buy shaving products.
    now for the ridicule.
I hope your word is worth more in other areas of your life.
three whole days, really, way to show off your iron will.
  6. I understand where you are coming from. I also understand that I have a high profile lifestyle. I am one of the front men for a rock band, I own a grooming shop, and am also a machinist engineer. I deal with a lot of people face to face, and I have to look good. I also have to consider my wife, when she says I need to do something, I do. She said my face was looking rough, I took steps to remedy that.
Blessed be friend, and enjoy the 4th.
  7. In the end personal happjness/needs will always come before any online forum pledge :) If this was something you felt you needed to do I wouldn't feel bad for breaking NBJ - at least you gave it a try and fell off for a 'good reason' as opposed to me who is more likely to fall off before something is extra shiny... :)
  8. I do hope you enjoy your purchases, and look forward to reading your reports on their success.
but, you can't be on the list of people who have mastered their hobby related spending.
    maybe next year.
    best of luck,
    d
  9. Haha 3 days amateur =P

  10. My hard thing is not buying straights. There's 2 shops a couple of blocks away that have a handfull of vintage straights I want to get, I know one is a Japanese wedge, and the others I haven't opened the boxes to look at yet. It's taking everything I have to keep from going shopping. As far as need, I have very little in my den, and keeping comfortable is the most important. I sliced my hand to shreds making that buckle for my handmade strop because I didn't want to buy one.....

  11. I find menthol to be awesome for sensitive skin or to prevent razor burn. I made some menthol infused glycerin so it can be added to any lather and you can adjust the strength of the menthol. menthol crystals are a good thing to have around as there are so many uses for it. also, cold water shaves cut down irritation for me big time.YMMV
  12. Well if it makes you feel any better the strop did end up looking great :)
  13. strop does look nice.
buy away now, out is out.

  15. it's all in fun
I told you ahead of time I'd ridicule you.
  16. I have no problem with that. BTW...I'm still not buying the SRs. But I will have my Current ones serviced,

  17. The fear of @david of central florida is the only thing keeping me from slipping
  18. after the soap box I've stepped up on, I'd be afraid to fall off.

I didn't hanker for this stuff near as much before I said I wouldn't buy.

  20. Note to self: Do not opt in for NBJ when owning a grooming shop and salon,
