Since joining TSD I have been intrigued by the question of how many passes guys do for a daily shave. It seems many do a 3 pass shave WTG, XTG and ATG. Other do a 2 pass shave. For most of my life (for a routine daily shave) I have done a single pass...usually with touch-ups and it is more than sufficient.

So my question to you is: How many passes do you do for a routine daily shave?

Most mornings, a three-pass shave will do. If I've more time and enjoying the process I'll do another just for kicks...

Three every day. I go for BBS, but I don't chase the baby. I know my limits and I take it there. Too far and I wind up with razor burn.

three for me, maybe a little touch-up. but mostly 3.

I usually do three passes, but I've been experimenting with two lately.

I shave 7 days a week normally. 3 passes each day (WTG, XTG, ATG). Like Steve I strive for a BBS each day, I love to faceturbate. (LOL). As I've become more experienced I'm finding out easier to get the results I want with less "work". Occasionally 2 passes will do.

Two plus a touch-up for the BBS.

Typically two, rarely three. I can get good 1 pass shaves using the Rolls but haven't tried repeating that feat for a few years.

Oh, and the ProGlide does me up right in one pass as well. *ducks*

2 + a quarter. One down, One Up, then one across one of my cheeks. Haha. Seems odd, but that's how my grain is.

Three passes for me. Sgt. Ferrel said that's the way to do it and that's what I do. No questions asks.

I do two for a SAS or CCS. I don't chase the baby anymore. I am quite satisfied with a two pass shave.

Two each on my head and face, but the two are quite different. My head gets a standard 2 pass WTG / XTG with my DE. My face gets one pass with my SR1 WTG, one pass with the DE WTG.

Normally 3passes. But if all the stars are aligned I will go 4-5. Just for kicks.

I usually do 2 and some cleanup.

3 is routine for me. Occasionally, if everything is going great, I will go for 4. Likewise, if I mess up on either of the first two passes, I will stop at 2.

I normally like to do a two pass with little cleanup but sometimes I end up with a 3 pass shave and cleanup depending on my blade if getting dull, lather not quite up to standard so I ease up or just me not in the right mind set!

For much of my earlier shaving experience, about 20 years I only shaved 1 pass + cleanups for very close to DFS. Most of my shaves nowadays since changing to GEM SE razors are 2 pass maximum with most recently returning to the 1 pass + cleanups for very close to DFS. I'm not sure why but the shave from a GEM gives me a far more satisfying result with less passes.

I go for 2 passes plus some clean up. Works well for me most days.
