For @lradke - My thoughts and prayers are with you to find a job.

For @micah1_8 - Hang in and be cool - stay above the fray. In 45 years in the work force, I ran across folks like this - I did my job and pressed on.

A friend of mine was having this same debate with his wife about Jurrasic World. He finally told her We're going to the 2D show as a 3D Indominous Rex may cause me to wet my seat and a 3D Chris Pratt may cause you to wet your seat.

Hmmm... I think I can handle a 3D Minion....tho come to think of it, a 3D minion wearing a thong (tv promo) may scare and scar me for life and beyond.

I've been holding off on posting this for a week. Karma. Last Tuesday my wife took her car into our mechanic for our smog check, everything went okay, the car passed smog. Usually the mechanic will go over with my wife what needs to be done next, this time was different, he seemed rushed, maybe even sick. Said have a nice holiday and my wife left in the car.
My wife puts 3,000 miles a year on the car, so for the next two days she drove the car around town to the grocery store and such. On Saturday at 8:30am she went to work on highway 280 in San Jose, just before highway 87 the hood of the car flipped up and smashed the windshield, flying off the car into the lane behind her. Thank god it was July 4th at 8:30am and no one was on the road, a good samaritan pulled over to check on her, she was in shock and crying.
She did drive the car home along the back roads. On Tuesday when the shop opened I called the mechanic explaining what took place, I was obvious he did not close and latch the hood (secure properly) he the mechanic came over to my house, after talking he took full responsibility, at this time he drove the car to his shop.
The next day he began a song and dance with me, saying it was our fault, and a strange conspiracy that a truck it the car causing the damage. Where was the front end damage? There was none! He then wanted me to pay half. Now he was really starting to get under my skin. I told him what was I getting out of doing this? Nothing! So after going back and forth the car has a new windshield, a new hood being painted as I type this, and will be ready for pick up for tomorrow morning.

Hey thanks! I hope so too. Tomorrow is serious introspection day about what to do for the future. I am really good at what I do, I just have crap luck. The problem is I don't really enjoy accounting work that much anymore...so should I just go and pursue a childhood dream and do something that I would love? That's what I get to decide tomorrow...well start to decide.

The trip to the mountains was fantastic. I grew up camping in the mountains for a few weeks a year so I feel at home there. The worst part of the trip was hiking down from a waterfall...at the top of a scree slope (avalanche zone full of steep loose rock) with a flailing/screaming 2 year old on my shoulders. Lol! One of the highlights was finally checking out the ruins of an old church at a coalmine ghost town with my girls.

Go 3D. In this case it adds to the experience. :happy088:

I'm glad things are coming out fine, but I guess the mechanic is losing a client. Please give my best wishes to your wife. She must have had a real fright. Hope she didn't get traumatized by it.

Well, if Mike is going to recommend 3D, then 3D it is. :D I might see it today... a 3pm showing.

I'm sorry to hear about your job, maybe change course and find something that you'll enjoy. Looks like a GREAT family camping trip! Beautiful country.

I sent out a PIF that was about a week late so I felt really good this morning leaving the post office. I get home and see a razor I was going to ship as one of the extra items for being late laying on the counter. I really dropped the ball on this one.

I think I like the original Despicable Me better; Minions was good, but more of a Muppets Take Manhattan type movie than a real story behind it. The sound track tho, was awesome. Thong-wearing-mininon-butt should never be seen in 3D or 2D for that matter. In general the 3D effects were about what you'd expect... ie: "look we can do 3D" rather than something that really added to the movie.

But, all in all, a good movie that I'm glad I saw... doubly so since I stumbled into 1/2 price day and didn't know it until I got there.

Oh, and definitely stay for the full credits.

I will also give one small spoiler which I enjoyed:
    Show Spoiler
Young Gru makes a cameo toward the end and is referred to as a "Despicable Little Penguin."
