    '78 Black handled Super Speed
    Feather (1)
    The Satin Tip synthetic brush
    TOBS St. James
    Thayer's Rose
    Maggard's London Barbershop

Today was an absolutely terrible shave. If felt as if I were dragging broken glass across my face and I even had to use my coral Skin Food afterward. I am assuming that I use more pressure when using the SS since it's such a light and mild razor and that I should use something other than Feather blades in this razor. I'm using a different blade tomorrow and seeing if that helps. Oh well; you win some and you lose some.

    ZCOLDWATER1.jpg

    Dove Men Face Wash
    TOBS Grapefruit
    Jayaruh #10 Synthetic
Gillette English NEW LC/Brass Punch Handle
    Rapira Super Stainless
    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    Thayers Cucumber WH
    Pinaud Vegetal

The TOBS Grapefruit Shaving Cream face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #10 Synthetic brush. Two passes with my Gillette English NEW LC razor and a Rapira Super Stainless blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Cucumber WH and then Pinaud Vegetal after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    Chabrawichi 555 Cologne

As I said, this is a VERY cold set-up. The Frost_byte soap is well-named because it delivers very generously on the menthol sensation as well as rich, creamy, stable lather and pretty good skincare. Thank goodness I have the Gold Bond to cool and soothe my skin even further and the good old Rubby Dubby Doo to really freeze me out after this shave is done. The Derby blade will be changed on Wednesday. ;) :D

  8. Feathers actually work well in milder razors like the Super Speeds. However, there is one cardinal rule when using a Feather. NO pressure. Not light pressure, not some pressure not just a little pressure.....NONE! If you can keep from putting any pressure on and hold the angle the Feather will work fantastic. Otherwise, well I think you've discovered the result.

  9. Jay Mabe of Delta Echo Works calls this particular color scheme "Steampunk". It is dark copper handle and baseplate and the top cap is black chrome. He also cleaned up the brass and re-did the ring in black chrome and then added a final coat of clear top coat. At $36 delivered I thought a fine looking Fat Tech such as this one was a steal. 14. So glad you got it! :happy088:

However, I must defer credit to (mostly) the community of SR shavers here at TSD. I picked up the technique by lurking their posts and forums. :) And thanks again for the Myrsol samples last weekend, as both were very nice to use!

  18. Another top shave this morning with my Super Speed/Derby combination. The Frost_byte soap felt almost as frigid as a Glacial and it lathered great for me. The Rubby Dubby Doo gave me an additional icy jolt which I love.
  19. I like that razor and the XXX. Nice setup.
  20. Tues. 7/14

Still having fun with the Ikon 102 slant. Until this razor I've always done 3 passes with some touchups. Now I've eliminated the WTG pass and started XTG and finished ATG. Had to put in a new Astra, it just wasn't going to go a 5th day. Used Maggard Limes & Bergamot for a nice fresh lather. Man, I love this razor. Another wonderful, comfortable shave. Just perfect for another day at the salt mine!
