Keeping things out of view is especially important when it comes to keeping SWMBO happy. What she doesn't see she doesn't complain about. And, it's easier to say it's all PIF's when she does ask, with that sound and look that means "you should know that dear".

I'm definitely taking notes. I noticed today that the Feather seems better balanced and the grip is pretty nice. No thumb notch but not needed with the material it's made of. So far that's about it but I'm sure I'll have more as I get comfortable with it.

Well yes but it doesn't have 200 companions. Yet, anyway.

I used the platinum also, I found them sharp but a bit rough. I need to break out an Astra again soon.

    Nice photo today!
I came back to Silver Blue today. It was goooood. First time in a long while. Loved it! @Rufus T. tried one today too.
Like a trooper! Road warrior shaving!

You should make the mirror shot and die your signature photo composition technique. It's really, really cool looking.

I actually find it a little rough though plenty sharp, but I learned on Teflon Blades, so it is likely just not well suited to my style/skill/current razor. I think Teflon probably lets me get away with some stuff in an OC that I just can't pull off yet with a stainless/platinum finish. And thank you!

Also, saw your post about firefighting in CO. You sir have truly served your country twice. Thank you!
No fires near me now, it's really green and lush this week due to monsoonal t-storms.

    Day 15 - 15 July 2015

30 Days of Maggard and MITA!

    image.jpg
Day one of GSB! 2 passes, automatic! Cooled it off with AV Ice Sport after an easy shave. Will do GSB again tomorrow! Then on to the four winners in my @NCoxSTL and @Bobcat inspired informal blade tourney.

I will leave you guys with a view to the northwest from near my home. How about a little rotating thunderstorm, and a tree with a massive owl nest. The mountains visible are near Boulder. These storms are quite a sight to behold while out on the prairie.

    image.jpg

Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a triumphant Thursday!
    :)

Rotating thunderstorm on the prairie. That fires up my storm chasing genes. I spent a lot of time chasing storms around for radio stations and just for fun way back in the day. Still like to when I can. My goal.....to be on the ground with an EF-5...not too close.....just close enough to feel the ground rumble. Beautiful picture.

    @Rufus T.

I find GSB and Voskhod to be equivalent. It will be interesting to see your opinion. Teflon is probably the most forgiving, and likely smoothest coating in DE world. It has blades like Derby Green simply outclassed. Derby isn't bad, but it's a budget blade and it shows when compared heads up to a premium Russian blade of almost any stripe. It's also really great that in 44 days you have acquired enough replicable technique to clearly see this. Nice work.

Phoenix Dbl OC Focus Day 15:

    Homemade PS Oil
    VDH Boar Brush
    Stirling Cocoa Forest
    Phoenix Dbl OC
    Stirling Unscented PSB
    Clubman Vanilla AS

Halfway through the 30 days of shaves with this razor, and not a bad shave yet. Today was no exception. Near BBS and no irritation. The Cocoa Forest finished with the Clubman Vanilla has me thinking I started my day with dessert for breakfast.

Another great 3 pass BBS shave this morning. Soap Commander soap is really a great soap. I often say it is a vegan soap for those that prefer tallow based soaps. It was super easy to whip up a very slick lather. In fact the soap was slick enough to do my touch ups with just water after the final rinse. This is something I only try with super slick soaps. Finished off with a splash of Fine Platinum and I am ready to face Atlanta rush hour.

Current Blade under review: 4th Shark Super Stainless

Shave #2 with 4th Shark Super Stainless blade. A nice shave. Solid BBS results. Very close, comfortable, no nicks, weepers, irritation or razor burn.
Pass 1: WTG on my face (N/S), and XTG on my neck (N/S). Pass 2: ATG. I almost had a DFS at that point. Not nearly as close as the last few days with the Silver Blue. There were more spots left that needed attention than I've seen lately.
I lathered up and chased the baby for a while, then called it good. A nice result, but with a little more work than I spent with the Silver Blue. The Aqua Velva burned a little bit more today, but things settled down quickly. That is when the baby came out. He stuck around for almost 2 hours, then snuck away quietly.

I'm looking forward to going back to the Gillette Silver Blue on Saturday. I expect that will confirm that I like it better than the Shark. After the Silver Blue, I’m considering whether or not I should go back to the Astra Superior Platinum to see where it might fit in, or move on to a new blade. Not sure at this point.

In addition to the PolSilver Super Iridium and Feather from my original sampler, these came yesterday:

Now I have a few more choices to make. :D
