I lost my lab 3 years ago. He was the best dog, and I thought I could never replace him. Today SWMBO and I rescued a dog at the Humane Society. He is a beautiful one year old Labradoodle. I love big dogs and he is great. I can't wait to start the training.
I'd love progress reports on this... I've got allergies, and labradoodles are rumored to be hypoallergenic. I'm wondering if that was part of the appeal and more importantly, how hard is it going to be to train a non-puppy? Are you going to hunt with him?
He has no training. He can sit, doesn't come, works well on the leash. Lessons start next weekend. Looks like he may come to point. Basics first and then we will see. My Choc Lab was one of the top three field dogs in the country in 98/99. His Brother was the Number 1 (No exaggeration) Obedience Dog in the nation the same year. So we have a long way to go. I too am fascinated by this breed. The Standard Poodle originally was a very good hunter. The Lab now is and can be a world class hunter. We shall see. He is beautiful!
Lookin good, brutha..... and that dog is pretty cool, too. Still working on my girls to approve a dog for us.....man ! Wimmin are stubburn
At this point I wouldnt mind..... My neighbor has a beautiful little Boston terrier that I would love to adopt and it has been offered up........Camille is warming up to the little guy but Lovie is very stubburn
That's because you and Camille aren't gonna be the ones taking care of the dog, right? We got a dog once, yes once. Me, my sister, my brother, and my dad all wanted this dog so much. Mom didn't. Guess who took care of the dog. Guess whose dog he became. Mom's, of course. :happy097
