Sample Friday I used a Mickey Lee Paradise Frost sample today. It makes nice thick lather, but it started to tingle on my face - I have other grapefruit soaps that I love, so I wonder if this one uses more EO than the others. The scent is very fresh and bright grapefruit, as opposed to others that darken the scent with pepper or other ingredients. The menthol is very light, likely low enough for those sensitive to it to enjoy the cool without irritating. Ymmv I had to switch to Tabac cream for the final pass to calm my face down. KFF added more welcome cooling on a hot muggy rainy day. The results were very nice smooth skin with very little drama. Much as I love the HIS brush, I really miss The Colonel. I decided for now to not send it back overseas for the tiny crack in the handle. I just don't trust the postal service right now. Prep: Van Yulay pre shave oil Lather: Mickey Lee Paradise Frost; Tabac cream Brush: HIS XL Razor: Fatboy 9/7/7 Blade: Personna Lab Blue (3) AS: Krampert's Finest Frostbite
Awesome shave - the Frozen Tundra soap is just shy of being in the hyper-mentholated class. It's MUCH colder than QCS Vostok or even Iced Subzero. I would say it's Rod's second coldest soap after the Glacials.
SOTD: Friday, July 17 Mystic Water Irish Traveller Semogue SOC Boar (26/30) Mühle R41 Personna Med Prep (2) Creed Green Irish Tweed Compared to yesterday's Stirling Sharp Dressed Man:Ease of Lathering: Winner: Stirling Scent: Winner: Stirling Cushion: Tie Slickness: Winner: MW Post-Shave: Winner: MW MW Irish Traveller provided me with a more comfortable and slick shave than did yesterday's Stirling SDM --without the burning sensation. It was close and except for the burning issue, Stirling was ahead... Therefore, by default the soap that pairs better with GIT is Mystic Water. YMMV. Have a great day!

30 Day Rule - July 2015 July 17th Razor - Feather SS AC/Gillette New LC Blade - (2) (1 2/3) Brush - Omega 10066 (BoS) Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat Post - Cold Water splash, Alum, Nivea Rise and shine time. Well, rise anyway. I don't shine very well in the mornings. Got the Feather out and ready to and grabbed the BoS and went to work on the MWF. Really great lather with the new brush. Smaller than the Pro 48 by quite a bit but still gets the Fat worked up very nicely. Went for the first pass with the Feather and it felt pretty good. Still having a few issues on the left side but that's just a matter of practice. Definitely better than when I started. No nicks or other problems so I lathered again and gave it the second pass. XTG and again no blood. That's progress. So, two good passes under my belt this morning and decided to let the Gillette and Voskhod finish it up. Very close to BBS. Ran the alum over my face and had some burn but not as bad as it has been. So, that's progress. Let the Nivea cool it down and it's off to work I go. Overall a really nice shave so there's hope I'll get that final pass on the Feather in the next few days. Happy Friday!

FRIDAY First shave in about three days—a REAL Shave-cation! A 3-day+ growth posed no problem for the big Friodur. As much as I enjoyed not having to shave every morning while on vacation, its become so much part of my daily routine that I actually missed it! Have a wonderful Friday, all! Sunset on the Mendocino Coast. Snapped a panoramic of it while my wife captured a shot of me…

I will use the Manna soap tomorrow for a comparison as I haven't used the Manna in a month, but off the top of my head I would say the aftershave has a stronger scent than the soap but will provide feedback tomorrow.

Razor: Gillette 195 Fat Boy (f1) 1960 (5) ((3) Brush: Vintage Ever-Ready 675 badger Mug: Old Spice 1985 Cobalt Blue Cream: Truefitt&Hill #10 Blade: Feather (1) Post shave: Thayers Cucumber WH, Jack Black Post Shave Gel, Old Spice Lime original Shulton cologne Frosted Glass 1960s Whipped up some T&H in my favorite mug with the badger. I wanted to see how my FB compares to my Feather AS-DS2. So I set the FB on 3 for the entire shave to see if that was close, yesterday. Today I set it on 5 for WTG XTG on my face and neck, and ATG on my neck on 3. I have to be more precise with the FB on 5 and careful. I may also be using a lighter touch, but getting the same results. Bottom line is they are two great razors, that shave me very well. Great cucumber smell with the WH, and then some soothing JB. After cleanup some Vintage Old Spice Lime cologne from 1960s. Very nice! Have a good one y'all.
