Our strops are Twinsies! I initially found my linen a bit stiff as well, but it's loosened up nicely with mechanical manipulation and use.
today I used the spotted emperor. it's a j.a. Henckels #81. I it's 4/8 full hollow with a round end. it got a touch up on my apache strata. then twenty laps on my drygulch custom strop. the passes left me dfs,a little ruff on the right side. final pass with yesterday's fatboy cleaned me right up. the emperor got washed, dried, then 10 laps linen, followed by 20 laps leather.
Tamahagane Iwasaki "shorty". After The Great Display Case Failure of 2014, I finally decided I needed to shave with my dog gone tamahagane Iwasaki so I've made it a shorty. To my delight, it performed wonderfully, despite its minimal length and is quite nimble (as might be expected from a 50mM edge).
7/19/15 1924-1935 H. Boker 5/8th King Cutter. Scales are Cactus and Resin with Brass pins. Refurbished by www.fretzwerks.com He does great work. I'd say 95% of my shave was by the straight. 3 pass BBS. The only part I used a DE on was the curve on my chin. This is the 4th time I've used the straight. Guess watching all those hours of video watching paid off.
Thanks, Mike. Like the other C-MONs I've had the pleasure of using, this one is a very smooth shaver. A real joy to shave with!
7/20/15 5th day straight shaving and still going strong. About 10% of the shave was with DE. ATG on my chin a touch ups. I'm just taking my time and working on technique. This razor is very smooth!
