    Shave of the day

Pre- Hot shower, Olive oil bath soap
    Soap/cream- Haslinger Schafmilch shaving soap
    Brush- Turkish nr 6 Boar
    Razor- Gillette Tech
    Blade- Astra SP (2)
Post- Cold water rinse, Aqua Velva Ice blue aftershave lotion and Nivea sensitive cooling aftershave balm

Not the best shave and actually a nick too. It was a long time ago I got a nick. But its not the soaps fault, it was really slick! Love this soap.

The tech is a good shaver. Today I felt that it was a little harsh, i blame my technique of course =P

The Turkish no6 brush is getting better, I look forward to It being fully broken in =)

    SHAVE OF THE DAY 7-22-15
    sotd26.jpg

PRE SHAVE: OCCAMS CRUSHED LIME PRE SHAVE SOAP
    RAZOR: GILLETTE TECH
    BLADE: PERMA-SHARP (4TH SHAVE)
    BRUSH: FINE ANGEL HAIR SYNTHETIC
    SOAP: OGALLALA LIME & PEPPERCORNS
POST: OGALLALA BAY RUM LIME &PEPPERCORN/ GILLETTE INTENSE COOLING LOTION

Ogallala, Ogallala, Ogallala! I'm starting to sound like a caveman but I sure don't look like one after todays shave. I love the scent of the Limes & Peppercorns and even though it is not the slickest top tier soap, it costs around $1.25 an ounce so it is a great price and has a great scent. The Occams Crushed Lime added some slickness and paired very well with the Ogallala soap/a/s combo. The cooling lotion is very light on menthol but soothes the skin nicely. Hope everyone had a great day and a great shave!!

Comments: OMG, I just got my first FULL straight shave and didn't use my Wolfman in the picture for the cleanup pass! I did WTG, XTG and then a mix of ATG/XTG for a cleanup and it worked great! On the first pass I got a nice nick right below/on the the edge of the bottom lip and I could tell as soon as I set the razor down there, I was cut and it made me mad! I finished the first pass stopping every couple of seconds to wipe the blood off and once the first pass was done, I rinse and used the steptic pencil on it to closed it up. I then continued to finished the shave with another full pass and a cleanup type pass, which worked fine! No irritation today and although I did NOT get a BBS, I did get real close and a DFS for sure! . No issues with the Soap Commander as it lathers easy and gave me very good protection throughout the shave. All in all, it was a very, very good shave today but could have been better (no nick)!

Please feel free to leave comments on any items used as I enjoy reading them to see what others say about the gear I am using/trying out! Of course, YMMV!

    Thx.

Here's what's on tap for Thursday morning:

    Nivea Facial Wash
    Large Horsehair Barbershop
    Super Speed/Derby day 2
    Florena SC :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055:
    Lubriderm Unscented Moisturizer :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055:
    Booster Mosswood AS :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055:

No menthol, but still great stuff. I love the Florena cream and I wish it was still available here in Canada but it isn't. I received some from a gentleman in Germany a couple of years ago so I use it very sparingly. It smells very nice, it lathers and protects my skin very well. The Booster Mosswood aftershave is a Canadian barbershop classic - does it ever have a nice, old-school scent which I love! ;) :D

    July 23 Plans

    Gillette Fat Boy (8)
    Feather blade (3)
Edwin Jagger XL Synthetic STF V2.0
    Trumper's Coconut cream
    Two passes plus touch-ups
Alum, Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Trumper's Coral Skin Food

If I take my time and focus, which is what I love to do during my morning shave, the FB on setting 8 provides really close shaves with no nicks or weepers. I need to stay with two passes and keep my touch-ups to a minimum. Now, I'm curious to see how it will shave on setting 9, and that's my plan for next week. This is my first experience with Trumper's Skin Food, and it provides a nice, lightly scented finish to my shave. The EJ synthetic will be great for travel, but it doesn't generate lather like my boar or badger brushes. It may get better as I spend more time with it.

    Have a great Thursday!
